Location 43 - Button with Pin, Valid for CDN Anyone know what this button is for? My first thought was to hang an umbrella, but then it would still swing around too much during G-loads. Turns out, it's only for Canadian cars, specifically; 348 tb, 1995 F355 (not for Spider) and the 550 Maranello. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think it may have something to do with the removable top cover. maybe it fastens a leather cover that holds the removable top in place when stored behind the seat. not sure why only Canadian car, Regards, Jim
I would say that you are correct. Most likely called the "Top Tether Anchor". Thanks. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't believe the Latch system become available until much later. My first car to get it was a 2001 BMW...
I read some research studies from the early/mid nineties that compared the CANFIX system to other designs. " Transport Canada developed the CANFIX system, which consists of two rigid rear anchorages at the seat bight (rather than the four points of ISOFIX), plus an upper tether. This system envisions all vehicles to be equipped with upper tether anchorage locations. CANFIX is supported by Australia, which refers to the system as CAUSFIX. At this time, neither Canada nor Australia requires the CANFIX or CAUSFIX but both are interested in pursuing such a requirement in the near-term. It is noted, however, that Transport Canada has stated that in lieu of rigid lower anchorage points, it could support soft anchorages such as those of the ``UCRA'' system described below, in addition to an upper tether." Not sure when the CANFIX was first implemented.
