Happy New Year everybody..So I get a call from My Local Ferrari deealership today and they ask me if I am interested in a special their having on Factory 430 challenge exhaust package for my 360. They tell me it comes complete with exhaust, O2 sensors and ecu upgrade which will add HP and more agressive response, in their words IT REALLY WAKES UP THE CAR ! Total package is 3Gs installed..What do you think?...Anyone else out there who have gone this route..They also say the sound of the car is awesome to boot..

    thanks
    Adam

    This sounds odd!

While I run a 360 Challenge exhaust on my 360 fitting a 430 Challenge exhaust on a 360 seems tricky... I'm concerned about your description. Firstly the 430 Challenge pipes exit at a different location on the 360 vs 430 Challenge, secondly the ECU's are completely different on 430 vs 360 and totally incompatible. also worth mentioning the challenge exhausts are very very loud, no valves so if you use the car regularly be prepared to annoy your local community !

Price seems like a good deal, as it includes install and reprograming at a Dealer.

IMHO , best sounding exhaust !

Should you need " louder " just unplug the valves.

Hello TRev ..I'm quite confident the OP is referencing the CS style exhaust offered by a few dealers last year, as it seems there was a sudden surplus ?

Nevertheless, as always, you are correct in your observations !

    Happy New Year !

Ahhh.. Makes sense now too :)

The Ferrari 360 Optional Factory Racing Exhaust (as fitted standard on Challenge Stradale) does in fact come with replacement Bosch Ignition ECU's and does in fact have valves. Its also road legal too. These road car, factory [option] exhausts are an excellent replacement for a stock system and sound totally awesome.

Most official dealers are getting rid of their old stock now so some good deals to be had on these for the time being but they won't last long...

    Happy new year!

$3000 sounds expensive. You can call Ferrari of Ft.Lauderdale ask for Cesar and see if they have any 360 factory racing exhaust systems left. Bought mine from them for $1500 with all the ECU's programmed to my VIN and installed for $550. Best system out there for the money. Comes with a 2 year warranty on parts too!

I did it with mine. My dealer offered same package. Definitely worth it! Plus it has factory warranty.

What would be the HP increase ? So the CS factory exhaust is a nice upgrade ? Does it hurt resale value ?

My 360 spider was embarrassingly quiet and I was hesitant to spend $5k to $6k on a Tubi so when my local Ferrari dealer offered to install a Ferrari "racing" muffler for $3k I went for it. Wow! I could not be more delighted, the noise over 4K RPM is just great and then I disconnected [and plugged] both bypass hoses now it is just stunning at all revs. I will admit, however that on a long run with my wife I would reconnect them. And this is the great part of this system, it is so simple to have it either way. Much superior to the stock exhaust or the several Tubis I have driven.
As to the part itself, it measures 15 1/4" side to side, is highly polished and looks terrific.
The identification impressed into the top surface says:
    FERRARI MUF F131E.
    ZEUNA STARKER
    205 8605 001
FERRARI and fingers symbol with diagonal line across. [Hot muffler logo]
This marking [and size] is identical to that on my friends 430 spider but the sound is a little different, a little lower in pitch.
My mechanic at Ferrari tells me that with this exhaust, plus low restriction air filters, there is about a 15 HP increase. Also the stock muffler weighs a huge 75lbs at least double the new one.
Speaking as a concours judge your concern over originality is valid so keep your old one, you can always re-install it.

Go for it! Just make sure they give you your old one back so you have it for resale when the time comes. I'm assuming this is from FoLI? Maybe you can negotiate a bit with Pat/Mike there. Doesn't' hurt to ask.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Do they need to remove the bumper to do the install? If so it might be wise to have them clean the trans filter that gets talked about.
