How many miles is too many miles on a 360? I have seen some at 30K miles, but as far as I have seen the only repairs are the normal clutch, timing belt, fluids, and maybe a exhaust manifold/converter problem. Anything REAL expensive as mileage increases?

The usual example every time this has been asked recently is of a 360 with over 100000 miles and just two clutches - there are many many others

Don't forget a definition of high mileage is one fewer than the car you are trying to sell

It's hard to imagine but my car is still breaking in at 12K. Seriously it runs better and better each time I take it on the next long drive. I haven't had any machine that was this way before!

Thanks a lot you guys! I can do all the work on the car but my budget will only allow a higher mileage car unless I get lucky. Hard to find a for sale by owner. I am torn between a TR and a 360. They both have some neat things about them. Higher mileage TR's seem to hold up well also, except the diffs. They seem to be priced fairly close also----

I've got 57,800 on mine and she runs great. If the 360 were a Porsche would the miles stop you? The hard part is when it comes to resale. Higher mile cars will have more wear on them and will need more attention as with any car. Got your PM.. will respond tomorrow.

Which one do you like better that sets your heart ablaze..?

I don't think there's any limit on the car's doing well for you your whole lifetime. Most f-car engines are fantastic.

The only limit on miles is resale value. Anything over 40k miles takes a big hit toward pricing. Even if it has the wonderful stack of service records.

I don't agree with it but the perception of low miles always being worth more is with us to stay unfortunately.

It seems like the ones that I am most interested in are F1's. Any problems long term if the pressure is set correctly and a sensible driver?

Wow, it sure is refreshing to read a post with people that are not afraid to put miles on their cars!!! I salute each of you. It is frustrating to read about "don't re spray the paint, don't do this don't do that. 360s and 430s are common cars and no matter how well they are taken care of, they are not going to appreciate anywhere in the near future.

I can understand an Enzo or a really old Ferrari that is rare, but our cars are meant to be driven.

There is an actual Blue book measure for what's considered "low miles" for a vehicle. That measure is somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 - 6,999 miles per year or less (under 7K miles per year). This specification is made under the perspective of (a) proper service intervals/care and (2) proper documentation for repairs and parts replacements.

Hence a 360 with low miles would be as follows:

    1) For a first year 1999 model 360: Total of 80,000 - 111,984 OR LESS miles assuming consistent 16 year service term would be considered low miles.

    2) for a final year 2004 model 360: Total of 50,000 - 69,999 OR LESS miles assuming consistent 10 year service term would be considered low miles.

The F1 system is designed to interface with a diagnostic computer for maintenance and repair. This means if it breaks or you have an F1 light flashing, or it suddenly doesn't go into gear... you need an SD scanner to properly diagnose it. Not bad if you have an independent mechanic nearby but a pain if you're in the boondocks. That is probably why a lot of the lower priced cars are F1 cars! Us 3 pedal owners like the simplicity of our rides.

Read: If you want a car to do your own work on buy one with 3 pedals! :)

You know this mileage thing is stupid in my opinion. I saw a couple of Daytonas recently -- one a spider and both had what this community calls "high mileage" yet that doesn't hurt their value. Drive the damn thing as Enzo intended.

Alan you are right....the only problem is the way the Ferrari enthusiast and buyers community looks at it...when the car it's theirs it's Viva Enzo and "drive it as Enzo would have wanted" and when it's time to buy it's Viva Fiscal awareness and leverage negotiation tactics... they turn into "Oh my that is too many miles for that car, how about we knock off xxx grand" knowing that even thought the car has been cared for and is in great shape with all records the mileage is a tool they can use as leverage in the deal making.

I had the lowest km Aston Martin vantage in Canada. However, given it was the lowest, I could not get a fair evaluation of it. It was priced as if it had 20,000km on top of it.

That being said, the only concern with my Ferrari with respect to miles is the cost to operate the car.

Given I only drive it on weekends, I dont (on average) exceed 500kms a month (April-Oct). This seems to be around the norm.

I dont see my F430 as an investment, but an experience.
