I spent most of the afternoon chasing a "gremlin" which was born of my own ignorance. I went on a Sunday drive with one of my kids, who likes to use my iPhone 6p to run her playlist while I run the gates. The thin cover I have on my phone allows it to fit perfectly in the space over top the ash tray and side mirror controller. She runs the playlist with it sitting there. ($20 Bluetooth connector makes me not want to install clarion I bought) I pull in the garage and turn off engine. Notice the parking lights are still on. I check the stalk and note that I've got all lights off. I restart the engine and see that the oil pressure dropped and the oil temp is reading in the red. Check the oil level and it's perfect, and there is no smoke or other indication I'm leaking. Parking lights still on. I'm thinking there is some kinda electrical gremlin going on. I do the ECU reset. Wait a few hours and go thru it. Oil issue a non issue on second drive. But Parking lights still on. Pull back in garage and grab my phone and about to post a thread asking why my parking lights stuck on..... and notice this button with a "P" on it. Push this and amazingly my parking light issue is solved. Look around for a dunce cap to sport instead of my Cavallino cap. Yes, I've read the manual. More than once. Never really got it that the parking lights were not on the stalk like every other car I've owned. And I guess I've had my phone in that spot every time I've driven so never really paid attention to the buttons there. This is probably a thread that's been done before, but I haven't seen it on a simple search. Feel free to add anything dumb you may have done which could help the next guy who buys a 360 not be so dumb as me
Ha! Easy to do. No harm, no foul. Then there's the occasion where you are sitting at a traffic light and you're not putting enough pressure on the brake pedal and the car beeps and goes into neutral. And your wife is asking in WHATS WRONG? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I left the side garage door entrance open. I'm in the shower and hear my screaming "get...get out of there" from our bathroom window. Oh I forgot to mention I have 8 dwarf goats. Well out of the garage come all 8 goats! After the shower I come out to find goat hoof print scratches on my 360 hood and headlights! Was able to buff them out of the hood. the headlight lens I was able to correct. Good thing they are dwarf goats! I kept the scratches for a few months to impress the guys at outings. Now I will never leave that open again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oil temp in the red? Or do you always get that after you restart a hot engine? I'll have to check that with my car. I know the water temp goes pretty high, but I never noticed the oil temp.
It was odd, although I rarely restart the car after a drive... so as it was idling I was shocked to see the oil pressure drop and the oil temp rise. The "red dot" lit up on both and once I saw this I turned off engine and turned off battery assuming it was an electrical gremlin since I knew the oil level was good. Never seen that before. Went on another drive later today and pushed it some and had no issues.
After purchasing my first F1, I found myself sitting on my garage not knowing how to put gear on Neutral. I felt embarrassed that i had to ask the previous owner how to put it on Neutral. I tried to figure it out for 15 minutes before giving up though. LOL!
That was the one and only time I've ever seen that... But this was the hottest day I've driven it and drove it kinda hard at times. Also, it was the first time I've pulled in garage and then restarted it soon after parking. Something I'll be keeping a close eye on....
Putting gas for the first time to my F360, the dealer forgot to fill it up, so I went to a nearby gas station, then I didn't realized that you must have the switch on in order for the gas door to open...second the guy who pumped gas didn't screw the cap tight enough...next day when I take it for a ride...I got a CEL!!! I was freaking out!!! Then I remember that someone posted that as a common issue...checked the gas cap and was all loose!!! The CEL went away in a couple of days...
How about when your heater & A/C doesn’t work? Then you find out what the “OFF” button really does The 1st time you "try" to open the trunk. You fumble around with the latch & figure out have to push down on the latch while lifting the lid
+1 When I first got the car, was on the highway with the wife. She wanted to lower the window and didn't realize the window switches were on the dash. She proceeds to open the door on the center console and release the front bonnet and the gas filler door. The lady at the toll booth was nice enough to close the fuel door. LOL been there too with the AC. Would have been there with the frunk but my mechanic gave me a warning to push down instead of up.
First thing I did when I bought my F430 was to drive it to a local shop to have them reconnect the vacuum lines to the exhaust (yes I want it quieter for the wife) the tech reconnected the vacuum lines and told me to go ahead and start it so we could hear it..... I hopped in, kept twisting the key and began panicking as nothing was happening.... He peeked in the window and calmly said "Push the Button!"....
BTW, on my 360 the parking lights can be turned on with either the stalk switch or the center console switch. The difference is that with the stalk switch turned to parking, the lights will go off when the ignition is turned off. The console switch will turn the parking lights on and off independent of the ignition position.
I second the first gas fill up in my 360. We sat there for at least 1p to 15 minutes trying to figure out how to release the gas lid. Who hides the release under a flip up lid in the center? Damn Italians lol! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me on my first fill up. To make matters worse, my wife figured it out before I did "Oh the horror of it all" 😱
Years ago my next door neighbor repeatedly asked if I wanted to drive his 360. He knew I was a "car-guy", but I always said no...mostly because I didn't want anything to happen to his pride and joy during a drive. Then one Saturday morning, my wife and I were outside, he was backing out of his garage and said..."come on, take both of these beauties for a spin". I relented and with a huge grin, my wife and I took off. First thing I noticed was he was low on gas, so I though it would be nice to give him a fill-up. A couple miles away, we stopped, filled up, but attempting to re-start...it just cranked and cranked. So here I am sitting in a gas station with a sick Ferrari. People are starting to come around wondering what the problem is. I'm now getting pretty concerned and then I realized that we left in such a hurry, we forgot our phones! I sheepishly ask a guy if I can use his phone. He says, "You have a Ferrari, but no phone?". After a little explanation, I call my sister who lives close by (I didn't have my neighbor's number) to come pick one of us up and drive back home to explain the situation to my neighbor. Being brave, I pick my wife to do this deed. While she's gone, I repeatedly say to myself...I knew I should have never drove his car. Now imagine my wife showing up at his house...without the car! After a quick explanation that the car's not in a ditch somewhere, they come to the station. He "hits the key fob button", starts the car and proceeds to laugh his ass off! Since I had never started the car, I had no clue. But I had the last laugh...I bought the car a little over 4 years ago and have loved and cared for her dearly.
Starfish great story. You'll never forget that first Ferrari drive. Thanks for sharing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This happened to me several times in my first month of ownership. Engine won't start, I'm freaking out, then remember to push the button on the FOB. I still get nervous every time I'm at a gas station - what if the battery in my FOB just died? What do you do then? (seriously?) I hate the fact that the car has to be on to open the fuel door too. I've had to re-start my car a dozen times after turning it off to get fuel...haha.
If you don't have another FOB handy, you need the PIN code for the car. Then you follow a very tedious sequence of key turns (to match the PIN) and the car will start. It's tricky to get right. Best if you have the manual in your car or photograph the procedure onto your phone. Take a picture of your PIN too and keep the slip of paper somewhere safe. I do have a recurring nightmare that I'll stall the car (my 360 is gated), panic, not hit the fob button and not be able to restart quickly enough to avoid major embarrassment. Actually, I'm guessing now that since the car won't have been off for more than 60 seconds, you can probably just twist the key to restart without disarming the immobilizer.
My wife and I went on a Rally drive in April when it was supposed to be nice but ended up flurrying a little in the morning. I knew my A/C didn't work but I was pretty sure I had heat. We froze our butts on that drive. I thought crap this is going to cost to get this all fixed. A couple days later I pushed that stop button and bam! I had heat. Did I feel stupid. And for the A/C, I figured I'd try one of those DIY recharge kits and I'm so happy now that I have A/C! Worked like a charm.
Been there, done that. Only the Italians could come up with that label for an HVAC system. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Unless you have your foot on the brake, the car will NOT engage into any gear. Any panic moments for any of you at the light??? Same fear... When a tail light burns or goes out, you WON'T be able to drive the car. A very scary thought I found out. Thought I will have to change light bulbs with annual service.
Very first night I owned my car (about 6 weeks ago) I had a red face moment. My car was delivered in the evening and of course I couldn't wait to take it for a short drive immediately upon it being unloaded from the trailer. Got home and put my new beautiful Ferrari in the garage for the evening.. Obviously spent a lot of time that night out there playing with it and getting familiar with everything. Next morning it wouldn't start. Won't turn over.. Nothing. When I put the key in and turn ignition I get dash lights etc but no cranking.. I was at my house in Chicago and didn't have a battery charger there as I just assumed that I killed the battery with doors open etc while screwing around the night before. Went down to the parts store to buy a battery charger (already own 3, but located at my other home of course), it wasn't long after hooking up the charger I realized that I needed to push the button on the fob before starting.. Oops. Started right up of course.. Red face moment but at least I have a charger at my Chicago house now!
I was at a stoplight and the tonneau cover started to open up all on its own. I freaked out and pressed the button to close it. A month later the same thing happened, the I realized I had rested my hand on the button cover and that was enough to depress the button inside. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
