How many of you had to replace your fuel pumps? I have owned my car for 6 months and replaced both. First the driver, and this week the passenger..

14k miles, no issues. Did you install the fuel pumps yourself?

No.. the drivers fuel pump went out 10 days after purchasing the car... now 6 months later the passenger side one started stinking

I had the drivers one replaced by Andy at Ferrari Motor Service in Fountain Hills AZ ... he is a very respected Ferrari mechanic.

I replaced my passenger-side fuel pump in April... but in a 360 Spider. It had a very small crack on the pump hat allowing fuel to seep. My garage became odorous.....

It appears to be generally the same process as an F430... the only special tool needed is a spanner to undo the lock ring... I fabricated my own.

I did a write up with pics and posted it to F-chat.

I did my r/h pump a while back. Yellowish plastic top as opposed to white. Both pumps are now yellow suggesting the l/h had previously been done. Now 15k miles.
Hopefully yellow is the upgraded part?
Later model 430's have a different tank top with no panel to unbolt meaning tank needs to be moved rearward and inwards to get pump out. ***** of a job. Ferrari quote 10hrs and it took me all of that.

To tell if your fuel pump is leaking you will have a smell of raw gas coming from the intakes on the rear fenders.

The top of the fuel pump is plastic... with heat/ age of it being back with the engine the plastic top will get a hairline cracks that allow the fuel vapor to no longer be sealed in the tank.

Mine is an early F430... the passenger side was 8 hours labor. The drivers side is about 5 hours from my quote.

It might be possible if the crack is drilled and filled/sealed with a two-part, fuel-proof epoxy.

Failing to drill the crack at its outer extents will simply allow the weak spot to remain and continue its course...sort of like a cracked windshield whose crack keeps creeping with cyclical expansion and contraction.

I tried gluing mine with epoxy after die grinding out the crack. PITA and fail. Wouldn't bother trying that again.

It leaked again straight away. Mine is late model 430 and the tank top is different to earlier models. Tank has to come half way out to get pump out. (so did it twice) The plastic (circle with cross) on top that houses the fuel pressure regulator cracked down inside. Hard to glue or plastic weld. Also once plastic goes brittle it will crack again somewhere else in no time.
