Im planing to buy used F430, and now I have to make decision between F430 year 2006 and F43o year 2008. I have been told that there are several modification have been made such as
gear in F430 year 2008 is better and quicker than F430 year 2006 and standard brake for F430 year 2008 is ceramic brake. F430 2006 is a lot cheaper than F430 2008.
    My question is
    1. can I modify the new gear of F430 2008 in F430 2006
    2. Are there much difference between the gear in F430 2008 and F430 2006
    3. about the ceramic brake in F430 2008, can I modify the brake myself, where can I get the ceramic brake for F430 please advice
    4. if the price of F430 2008 is much higher than F430 2006, which model should I go for

or if there will be any recommendation regarding the F430 please feel free to comments

Thank you so much in advance :)

I would say that unless you are really going to hammer the car, you are now going to notice the difference in the brakes. It just depends on what you want to spend. I have not done it but im pretty sure swapping brake sets would be no big deal, just pricey.

A lot of 430s manage fine with standard brakes and a lot cheaper to maintain, you can always retrofit the CCMs at a later date but about £10k i think. I have them in an 08 and very good.
No idea about differences in gear you mention-any 430 you get will be a lot quicker than you expect anyway.
You would be better finding out its history, especially the manifolds condition and are they original or aftermarket.

I have CCM on my 2005. They were a 20k USD option. Cars with them do not fetch a premium, so if you want CCM then just wait..and get the car you want.

I had a choice of 2006, 2007 or 2008 at dealer at same time. I went for 2008, more money but not hugely. For me it mainly came down to history/condition, the earlier cars were both in poor overall condition, the fact that the 2008 had Carbon ceramic brakes and later updates, Daytona style seats, carbon bits and bobs and the best hifi the factory offered in a 430, was all a billy bonus.

Buy the 'best' you can afford and that is available at the time, which may not always be the newest.

I wanted Carbon Ceramic Brakes and was willing to pay a premium for them.

Pretty sure the header issues were corrected by 2008.

I would agree the decision should be based on the overall cars themselves, The MY factors into the equation simply in the fact the '08 is a 2-year newer car.

Yes and no. Of course the 08 is a newer car, but it has a host of modifications and upgrades that also make it a better car

Yeah, but precious little objective evidence of the significance of the updates. Or even manufacturer specs, for that matter. Did Ferrari spec higher engine output or faster F1 shift times, for example?

Lots of "factual" evidence actually. You need to be informed as a buyer.

When I began my search for a 430 I was made aware of the significant differences through out the production, from 2005 to 2009. I was told by two Ferrari technicians and a few owners that have driven (and owned) 2005 to 2007 cars, and most (with one exception) felt the shifting was smoother and noticeably improved on the 2008/2009 cars, and was worth seeking out. While I would not discount considering an early car, my preference would be for a later one.

    Alas, I ended up getting a 430 Scuderia. ;)

I will say this...my 08 F430 definitely drives differently (in a good way) better than two '07 I drove (similar miles). It is a very small sample size (so YMMV) but I was told the same from various people about the driveability like f355spider was. I'm very glad I bought an '08. My .02

Most manufacturers update their vehicles from year to year but keep in mind that their ONLY objective is to make money. One of the best ways is to lower costs. Sometimes this results in a better, more reliable part and the resultant reduced warranty claims, but often times it is just a cheaper part, optimized to make it thru the warranty period. The takeaway here is that newer isn't always better.

Kevin, against the raft of firm evidence to support the 'later is better', in the case of the 430 your argument of 'not necesarilly' is in this case looking pretty weak... but nice try.

I still say it really comes down the the actual car itself, from what I've seen (uk cars) many seem to have been treated like crap.

In the case of the engine at least it was a harmonisation exercise: the 2008 is a low compression Scuderia engine i.e. Challenge/Scuderia cams, heads, valves, guides, inlet manifold, injectors, water pipes, and a few other things, so the road car actually got a better engine spec comprising better parts.

Looking at what changed between the years it is more a case of continual development rather than outright cost saving. The only two parts I am aware of that actually got worse are the air inlet ducts and the engine lid release handle - both went to a thinner, cheap plastic. The important parts related to engine/motor and gearbox/transmission were all genuine improvements - quite significant ones actually.
