Would it be technically possible to modify the "race" mode in a CS (or the "sport" mode in a 360) in order to decouple the damper settings from the rest of the respecting mode (like the shorter shifting time, earlier opening of the exhaust valves a.s.o) and therefore reach the same result like in the 430 Scuderia? One could install an additional switch in the center console for the damper setting "soft" and "hard".

Driving sometimes on the "bumpy" Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany it would be more than appropriate to have the softer damper setting of the regular mode but nobody wants to miss the other advantages of the "race" mode! I think that this setting would also be much better for sporty road use.

This have been done on the 430 and can be done on the 360.

Haven't researched the exact pin-out required yet but absolutely yes...

It would be interesting to know not only whether it can be done principally but whether somebody had done it in his car in fact!

I want to know too! But is there any disadvantage in having the transmission shift fast all the time? Perhaps faster wear?

In Race mode, I feel as if the throttle is not blipped enough, so that the car slows down as a lower gear is engaged. Even the manual says Race mode may cause wheel spin or loss of traction.

Finally, after I have asked Ferrari SpA directly and they adviced me to go to my official dealer with my wishes - we have done it and it works!

So they added an additional switch between the control unit and the dampers with the following effect: When I switch on "race" the dampers stay in the "soft" position and when I operate the additional switch the dampers change to "hard". Perfect and the same effect like in the new 430 Scuderia. Not a big affair to do, may be some hours to install (I do not have received the bill until now however...).

You might like the switch or not - its a racecar anyway! I will test the new setup next week on the Nürburgring.

    Wow, that's great!

On the US car, there is room for an extra factory toggle switch to the left of the steering wheel so you can add the functionality and keep everything looking factory.

would that be the same for the 360? I am curious how much it would be here in the US to get that done or if it is possible at all.

You should change the "HARD SOFT" label to yellow background with black font, makes it even more racey! :)

I have a 360 and asked the service center if this kind of modification can be done- uncoupling the suspension changes when SPORT mode is engaged and having a seperate toggle control for the suspension firmness.

I was told that it was not possible. That was a year ago.

Maybe you can suggest someone I can talk to?

Yes, I am still around! The modification did cost around $ 600 i.e. a couple of hours work from a ferrari mechanic. I does work perfectly and the most of time I keep it in the "soft" position except when I am on a flat race track.
