I just noticed the lights on my window switches aren't turning off (even with the key out). Does anyone have this same problem?

    Cheers!

I noticed this too when I park my F430 in the garage, keys out and the car securely closed, the lights behind the window switches remain on. But each time I take my car out the day after, I've never seen this lights on. So I suppose there must be a timer switching them off after a laps of time.
    Cheers.

Mine do the same thing. When I first noticed the lights staying on, I went back in the garage about 5-10 minutes later to check and they were off. The timer must be set for a minute or two. Why they stay on, I have no idea.

Just found this on another site...."Faulty micro switch in the inner door handle. Common problem, not so commonly known, causes flat batteries in F430s more than most other issues and is rarely detected, took me ages to find the problem on a car that KEPT going flat."
Will check it out. If true could explain a lot of those flat battery stories we hear so much about.

Yep. I'm a fairly new F430 owner and I noticed the same thing. I shut all the lights off in the garage and those window switch lights remained on. Thought there was something wrong. They go off after a couple of minutes though. I can't imagine the purpose of that.

    Fixed....
Was a bad contact in one of the micro switches in the passenger door.
Passenger door gets less use so tried first
I could hear the switches clicking, so guessed contacts not making.
Instead of pulling the door apart to access the switches, I just flicked the door handle on and off 50 times and it must have cleared the high resistance off the contact.
Shut the door, went out 5 minutes later and lights were off!!
Will keep an eye out in the future that the lights are off. I could imagine this is a common problem, or an intermittent problem for all cars. Could explain a lot of those flat battery stories.
Hope this helps if you are searching this topic in future

Went to start my 430 the other day and battery was flat even though had been plugged into CTEK Charger.

I notice that the Window switch backlights don't go off at all anymore, always thought they stayed on for a while after you lock the car.

The drivers side window doesn't seem to go all the way up either now about 1cm down. Thoughts on it being a faulty microswitch?

    Any help, much appreciated!

It can be a fault on the actual door lock mechanism, mine had a problem and was running battery down by drawing 180mA if i remember correctly. Should be about 30mA.

Just had another look earlier and the window appears to drop a little as you would expect when you pull the handle, but stays down for about 30 seconds then goes back up again. Window switches stay illuminated the whole time. So guess this must related!

I had this same issue when I first bought my 430. In my case neither micro switch in the drivers side door were being actuated. For the internal door pull I just needed to tighten the screw that attaches the micro switch. For the external door handle I needed to loosen the bolt to readjust the handle slightly until the micro switch was back in range, and then re-tighten the bolt. After that I can now easily hear them click open and closed when grabbing the door handle. Didn't completely resolve the battery discharging, but the window switch lights stopped staying on.

After some further examination, the micro switch by the internal door handle appears to be making a click noise as you would expect. Is there another switch hidden behind the door card or something? Any help much appreciated!

I recently removed both door handles for repaint and after that the battery were dead within two weeks. Just noticed the lights does not turn off. Checked both sides and found the passenger side door lock switch was not functioning, so I fixed it by reassembling the micro switchswitch. It's working now the the lights are still on. Please any advices?

    Thanks

    Theres 6 micro switches.

2 on the door lock buttons, 2 on the inner door handles, 2 on the outer door handles.

Make sure they are all working.

I had the exact problem, causing my battery to go flat if not connected to the charger. It took the dealer forever to find it.

Hi, ive recently acquired an F430 and I have the fantom window light switches that stay illuminated and my interior door lock switches do not lock the car from the inside.
You had mentioned 6 microswitches, but Ive only been able to find 2 types of microswitch parts thus far. One is called simply a microswitch and the other is called the door lock microswitch. Would you or anyone be aware if these are all the parts needed, ie two microswitches and 4 door lock microswitche(2 for interior lock and 2 for exterior lock) to make up the 6 noted?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The door locking from the inside might be the plug is not fully home on the window control module. On my RHD it is just above my right knee, it is a bright green box hidden behind a bigger silver box.
On one end you will find 2 plugs and on the other end is a multipin plug, this has a weird locking arrangement and if this plug is not fully engaged the inside lock lever will not work
In ref to the window switch lights, put some masking tape vertically on the glass, shut the door and mark the tape at the frame, leave it 10 mins and see if glass has dropped. Try the same on locking the doors. The glass might look full up but might drop enough to come off a microswitch.

The standard F430 (non-Scud) has the same setup as the later 360's.... Wiring diagram here for driver's door:

Parts manual link for the USA Coupe Door here:

    https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Ferrari/430/F430_Coupe_(USA)/PartDiagrams/0116/DOORS_-_OPENING_MECHANISM_AND_HINGES

I can only guess where you're from and the car you have as you haven't completed your profile.

    Referring to the wiring diagram:

13M a microswitch on the armrest lock lever (item # 64 in the parts manual P/N 212584)
8M microswitch on the armrest door opening lever (item #12 in the parts manual P/N 171120)
4M a series of 3 switches on the external key lock mechanism (item #8 in the parts manual, P/N varies according to door side, left or right)
5M a microswitch on the outer door handle (item #29 in the parts manual P/N 178187)
7M a window position "2cm down" microswitch (mentioned in post #20... item #49 in the WINDOWS parts diagram P/N 168617)
11M a microswitch in the door latch sensing that the door is latched closed (part of the door latch/lock mechanism, item #2 in the parts manual, various P/N's depending on vehicle assembly number, availability, LHD/RHD, etc)
10M a microswitch which detects the position of the doorlocking actuator (part of the door latch/lock mechanism, item #2 in the parts manual, various P/N's depending on vehicle assembly number, availability, LHD/RHD, etc)
Another switch (not shown) on the A pillar showing that the door is open. (item #48 in the parts manual P/N 179697)

In theory, you can check all the microswitches by doing continuity checks at the main door connector "1M"
