    I'm looking at a 550 for purchase and this car only has one key and one fob that are in fact working. There are several threads on this subject, but frankly it is somewhat confusing to me. Is there a down side to missing 2 fobs and the extra key? He states he has the 4 digit pin #. What's the cheapest way to get two other fobs and get them cloned? And an additional key? Or am I ok as is? Thanks in advance.

    A dealer will sell you a genuine key for (I think it reduced to) about fifty bucks - or a locksmith will cut you an equivalent for ten

    If you have the pin and it works (which is not a given) you can either get your one fob cloned (the cloner eg Gobble may also offer fobs or you can get off Ebay etc ) or you can buy a new set of three from a dealer for (again just reduced) maybe eight hundred bucks with a new pin which then requires use of the old one to begin the programming process

    As of the second day of the cars life the difference of the red fob is meaningless so don't get hung up on the color of the plastic.

    The relevance is a few hundred bucks to get the extra fobs cloned. I have 4 fobs for my 550. Quite frankly, they get so out of sync so fast that even having three is sort of meaningless.

    The only thing you really need is the code.
