Gents I come across today of an electrical issue with my 456 MGT. Beside of the issue i find that the 1D connector as show in the Workshop Manual L2 ( from ferraridatabase) Page L45 with connector Pin detail page L46 ( Connector 1D 2D 3D Pdf) is different from the actual pin connection ( picture Fuse box connector, showing Connector 1D 2D 3D from left to right ) The picture show only a 8PIn connector when the L2 wiring diagram show more pin wired with extra spare .. Does anyone know if there is a different version for this Fuse / relay box ? Thanks for your comments Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is also an expanded version of the 456M Section L in ferraridatabase.com. Not sure if it has anything different from the shorter Section L in the WSM, but worth looking and having, at any rate.
Taz, Thanks for your reply ,the connector wiring is coming from the L2 extended section ( downloaded from ferraridatabase)
Did you look at the 456 Section L to see if there is a difference? Ferrari made changes all the time that did not get into the WSMs.
Taz, I have check in the 456M WSM and on the 456M L2 extended electrical wiring and both document are showing the same 1D connector with spares pin and extra wiring compare to what i have in the fusebox . i presume it will be one of the mystery ...
That is why I suggested the earlier 456 WSM to see if you have an interim model. The parts catalog notes that the electrical boards changed at Assembly Number 32533. What is your 456M's AN?
my An is 1999, with a VIN number before the 32000. On ferraridatabase i only see 1 WSM for the 456M and one 456M L2 manual. I will try to locate the intermediate WSM for the interim model . Thanks again for your help
Taz, According to the drawing on the right end side of the Fuse box we have 5 Connectors Black (6D) Green (1D) white (2D) Yellow (35D) Blue (3D) In reality the Blue connector correspond to the 1D connector wiring and the Green connector correspond to the 3D wiring . It will be interesting to see if other 456M owner have encounter this kind of situation for their fusebox wiring . Cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
JM- I was talking about looking at the 456, not 456M, box and see if yours is similar. As far as I know, there was only one 456M WSM.
Taz, The fusebox layout is really different on the 456 . Now like you mention on an early post i could have an intermediate fusebox /layout different than the one show on the 456M L2 Drawing ,or it is a glitch in the documentation from Ferrari .
Just looked at my 456 M fuse box, and located an unconnected pigtail...white connector with four wires...yellow/white; yellow; black; brown. Anyone know anything about this extra wire group/connector? Thanks for any help. Dennis
The white connector is similar to the white connector in the upper center left picture, that has a pink and white wire attached. Thought I would pass that on. Dennis
See attached pictures. Connector is in the center of the picture. Thanks Dennis Image Unavailable, Please Login
See attached pictures. What are the functions of the fuses that are above the green box in the photo? Cannot locate any info on these fuses that are not covered in the general population legend. Thanks Dennis
@Denis download the 456 WSM L2 only section , you will see that the items your ref are 38D and 39D ,left and right inertia switch . The Fuse are part of the switch . Cheers Jm
Thanks JM. Did not know what these were and the legend diagram does not cover them. Thanks again, Dennis
Hi JM, Another quick question...do you know what the unmated white connector is in photo #13? I cannot find any logical mate for it in my fuse box. It is the white connector surrounded by a spiral wound black tape over a pink wrap bundle in the picture. Thanks Dennis
Well certainly my age but i don't see any white connector un-mated Will it be possible for you to post the picture with an arrow on the connector Thanks Jm
Jm, See attachments. The unmated white connector is very prominent in the center of the picture. I think I found a possible explanation...engine signal interface...provides access for the SD1,2,3 system. Thanks for all of your help.
