Not a Prodrive, but here's how it looked when the IFS 550 Maranello GTS passed me going into The Bus Stop at Watkins Glen...

I had no idea that Prodrive built 12 of them but I this one could be there pick of the bunch. Is it / could it be made street legal?

Never street legal again. It was, at the beginnig of his normal street car.

I love that car. I worked on a American Lemans team in 2003, and the Prodrive team gave me the front bumper cover of the class winning car at Laguna Seca. Not for free though, I had to buy them some beers!

I thought as much but do note that McLaren have helped a number of F1 GTR owners convert their cars for road use.

Possible? Yes. But after one trip you'll realize how utterly pointless and hateful it is. Also change brakes as I believe this one has proper carbon/carbon brakes.

It'll be incredibly loud, incredibly noisey, the gearbox will piss you off in traffic...

Very true. The Piero Nappi hill climb specification car make one dream what it would be like to drive a 'race-prepared' Maranello on the road but in all practical situations, it would simply be impossible to get anywhere near the speeds that these cars have been set up to deal with and it would undoubtably be a huge exercise in frustration running around at lets call it 5/10ths.

    Also true.

IMO if one wants a fast Maranello, put one on a diet. There's a lot, a stupid amount, of weight in these cars. 150kg can easily be lost by basically recreating all panels (except doors/roof) for carbon, proper racing seats (memory foam lined), a new exhaust system (preferably Fabio's ;)). Obviously fully modernize it by getting up-to-date brakes in there as well, like you have done and new rubber.

It'll be a totally new car. Obviously easier to buy a 599 but what if one wants a Maranello ;)

Again...4 million euro? Am I mistaken?

That's LaFerrari money. That can't be right.

Correction: That's a Laferrari, 550 Maranello, Challenge Stradale, 599 GTO and on top of all that, a Carrera GT! Whilst I'd love a 550 Prodrive, this really isn't an argument.

Agreed. Price is out to lunch in my opinion...but it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

Personally, for that much...I'd rather have an F40, Stradale, Scuderia, Speciale, and probably enough left over for an Enzo. :D
