    All,

I am going to be trading in my TDF/Black 2014 458. The car has 4,700 miles and has been meticulously maintained. I have all books, records, keys even the original plastic all of the books came in. The car had paint correction about a year ago and the only thing that needs attention is 2 small rock chips. I would like your opinion on what the current pricing would be, wholesale and retail.

I think its 235K wholesale and 250k retail.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

    Nick

It is not my intention to put the car up for sale but if this is considered posting it for sale I would gladly pay.

250k retail seems fair for a 2014 coupe MSRP 306k, but the color is not the most popular so there maybe some haggling down

spiders would be selling for 40k below MSRP for 2014

Great looking Italia. Agree that 250k retail is about right but as we get closer to the 488 launch, that price may decline. Not sure of the wholesale price as dealers may already have a few 458's for sale.

Based on my similar situation and research my dealer has done for me on my 2014 for a Speciale trade I think a wholesale around 240,000 with a retail about 260,000 would be very fair. Most of the sales data available is on 2013 and earlier models. There are a fair number of 458s available only about 20 2014s which have more warranty and tend to have lower milage. The 488 won't drop prices much for about 6 -12 months as much until next year as 488 production doesn't start until end of July and thus US models won't land until fall and even then very few folks will have an allocation for a year or two. As far the member who says that 2014 spiders are 40K under MSRP right now, please show me some examples -- I'll buy one and flip it... Additionally if reviews of the 488 are less than stellar then prices could stay up a bit more. I'm sure some will disagree with me on this and there are lots of "the sky is falling" members of this forum out there so I would take everything with a grain of salt (including my opinion)...:)

Numbers seem good. I know you only asked about the numbers, but I have to say- why trade this beauty! This is a fantastic color combination. I know its not resale red, but TDF is gorgeous and you have a beautiful spec overall.

I saw recent Manheim prices and you aren't even close. My bro traded in his 12 spider for Huracan at 40k below msrp with 3xxx miles. That's real life example.

I think your estimation for retail is right on based on what I just paid for a similarly optioned nero/nero 2013 that had lower mileage (2,800). Beautiful car BTW!!!

Just last week i looked into trading my 2014 Spider with 3500 miles, mint condition, for a new 2015. Dealer offered me 70k below MSRP. I passed. Not sure if that offer reflected market conditions or if they were just trying to take me for a ride.

Obviously there are regional price differences and color matters. Furthermore, colonels was specifically describing 2014 Spiders.

I should have prefaced the dealer really wanted to sell my boy the Huracan, thus inflating trade-in value but that was a real life example in the past few months.

Congrats on your purchase brodi-san and welcome to the tribe☺️

In a trade deal, the dealer will, generally, only give you, as a maximum, the current auction price for your car. That's because all of his profit (or a large part of it) is tied up in the car which he has taken in on trade. Dealers need to be in a position to turn a traded car into cash quickly (get their profit out) should financial conditions call for it. An auction option fulfills that need.
That's why giving them your car on consignment is such a sweet deal for the dealer. Non of this risky, messy used car stuff involved. They just put your car on the lot, sell it at their leisure and get a clean cut of your money at the end.

so you're saying a 2014 should sell for more... say 10k per year? so he should only discount 20k off MSRP?

I don't think so since it's the end of the 458 model cycle. If it were a year ago, perhaps. Proximity to 488 launch will affect (decrease) selling prices on 458's IMVHO.

I've just bought new from a dealer pre-order and had 12.5% off total list price if that helps you work things out. They do have a one year old one in there for more than I've paid for mine so go figure, thats sticker price though I assume there must be decent room for negotiation on that

My rule is 10% off MSRP per year plus $2 per mile. For a $300k one year old spider with $3xxx miles the discount would be $37k and you would be right. The Spider was able to buck that trend on the left coast but perhaps is now subject to a more realistic depreciation. I'm likely to take a bath when trade-in time comes but I receive sales tax credit on trade-in value and that's worth $11k

I don't mean to divert the thread topic; but, this comment of yours was jaw dropping. I was about to ask you the name of your dealer. Then I noticed you were "out of country."
    Well done, by the way!

You only pay state sales tax on the difference between the new car amount and trade amount

Thank you all for the kind comments and pricing help so far. It is very helpful for me to get your feedback. The building of a new home is causing the sale.
