Got the call from my dealer. They are now taking orders on Vette convertibles. I've had a deposit down since February.

Here's my spec. Comes with a ton of stuff standard (bluetooth streaming, GPS, heated and ventilated seats, upgraded stereo, Sat radio, HUD, etc). What you're left is color and a few options:

red/tan with tan dash. Their "tan" is more like Ferrari "cuoio".
Z51 package (19 inch wheels, Ediff, bigger brakes)
    CF dash
    red calipers
    black top
    7 speed manual
    magnetic ride
    performance exhaust
    silver wheels
museum delivery (I'm picking it up in Kentucky and driving it back to Vegas).

Total a little more than $73 grand, which is a bargain in my book. Replacing my much loved Maserati Spyder.

Hey, if I don't like it after a few months, someone here can buy it from me! :)

Forget to mention: Probably won't get it until Jan. He's not sure about the production start date but they said most likely Dec.

I can't get it until after CES anyway. :(

The configurator rendering looks awesome with that combo. Well done, Bob. Did you consider the sport seats? Just curious.

I played around with spec'ing a coupe today. I don't know whether I'm annoyed or not that the wife spends as much per month on a personal trainer as I would spend on a car payment for what I spec'd! :) I think these Vettes are a phenomenal deal for a sports car.

The sports seats aren't available yet so I can't sit in them. People who have say they are a bit snug. I'm looking for a daily driver so the standard are OK with me. At $1200 the race seats are an incredible bargain. The race seats also look fantastic. But, I wonder if you would get it back at resale. I'm doing the CF dash only because I have to look at it everyday. Otherwise, I wouldn't. It's the only CF option they have. I think the aftermarket will get involved pretty soon and do the console and maybe even the steering wheel. I would do that if it's not too expensive.

I wouldn't have gotten the Z51 package but it's the only way to get the eDiff and order the magride shocks. Still, a great bargain considering they throw in dry sump and it's only $2800 plus $1100 for the mag shocks.

If the car came with DCT, I would get that over the manual. But, I'm not getting any slush box no matter how good it is. I still like manual cars so this will be fun. Plus, the GF won't ask to drive it. :)

After configuring two 458's, doing one of these seems like using monopoly money. :)

    Bob,

Did you order the 3LT Interior? That is the biggest option.

Yes. 3LT. Its the only way you can get the dash with a non-black color. 3LT dashes are leather. Other levels are vinyl in black or gray..

With 3LT though they throw in the Nav, which is an option in the 1LT or 2 LT.

Sounds like a well spec'd car. I look forward to hearing your driving impressions, especially after you've had a couple of 458s. :)

Sounds nice, Bob. The new interior really does look good. The museum delivery is a cool option, and I'm sure you'll know if you like it by the time you're home.

Make sure to go see the car when it goes down the line and take the buyer's tour of the factory.

Did you order the regular red or the "crystal red"?

This one's on my list of possible fun cars 5+ years out, maybe just after the C8 comes out :)

That is the way to buy a car ! Congratulations, I think you will love it. I sat in a couple at Laguna Seca during the historics, if ever I can't afford the 360 the new Vette is at the very top of my list. Both my wife and daughter could not believe I liked a Vette. I still prefer the 360 but there something about a warranty that is awfully appealing (especially this week as my 360 is getting it$ annual).

I didn't know you could pick up the car at the factory/museum and drive it home, so now I have a new wish list if I ever get rid of the 360.

Are they doing the dry sump with the convertible in the C7? With the C6 Grand Sport the convertible did not come with dry sump but the coupe (removable roof) did.

All Z51's get the same stuff for the coupes and convertibles

    electronic diff
    bigger brakes
    larger wheels
    dry sump
    larger rear spoiler

You have to buy the Z51 package to buy the magnetic shocks. You cannot get them on the standard package. The mag shocks cost $1800.

Congratulations on your incoming new c7. I look forward to your review as you use it as a daily driver. I believe you will be quite happy with your new ride.

The kalahari interior is what I believe you ordered. I saw it in person and its stunning.

The performance with the z51 and MRC should offer you the best of both worlds with a smooth nice handling sports car.

The c7 z96 will debut in Detroit come January at the show. Not sure it will have a targa top much less be available as a convertible.

Figure a supercharged LT1 6.2 liter and more carbon fiber to help lower the weight even further.

The 7 speed manual z51 with MRC and the NPP exhaust for 73 grand should be a very exciting sports car...

Not as exciting as a quarter of a million dollar Ferrari yet you might still find the performance exhilarating.

    Best of luck.

Love the new vette Bob. Great choice with it and the options. Should be a wonderful car for 75k. Enjoy the museum delivery.
