Magoo...

What happened to magoo? he used to be here a few years ago, we exchanged emails, pics by mail and so on but lost touch. Anyone know?

 

I asked the same question about a year ago. As I remember someone(possibly Rob) replied that Magoo had sold his car, and moved on to other interests.....I knew he was sick also and apparently he recovered.
He sure was a great source for information, and provided sage wisdom

It's funny you ask, cause I was just thinking the same thing. I was looking through some of the old threads and saw his name.

 

I really liked that guy. The fact that we are still asking about him 3+ years later speaks volumes

 

Ditto that. Big fan of magoo. Glad he is remembered.

 

I found FerrariChat.com right after I bought my GTB in January, 2002. There were fewer people around here then for sure. Magoo was very helpful during my first few months of ownership with various technical aspects of my car (he owned a 308 GTS) both on this site and by email correspondence. He went out of his way to assist me with detailed email instructions or answers to questions I had.

I was always impressed with his automotive knowledge. He always had appropriate differential diagnoses for the various mechanical problems posted and most often zeroed right in and offered the solution. If he didn't know the answer, he would so state.

Magoo is a gentleman and a wise individual. He's missed.

I have a similar regard for Ed Gault.

 

Magoo was a pleasure to read.

 

Boy, when Ed had an opinion, he would let you know it.

 

Wouldn't it be nice if Rob could somehow get old members back in the game maybe just for a day each. "Guest Ferrarichat driver of the day"

 

I liked and miss Bruno (originalsinner) and Erik Johnson (gamster)

 

Remember the early posts (and pics) by Peter in BC when he rebuilt the engine in his black GT4... and we got to see the whole process? Those were great... he's still around. And how about Brett with the 308? Ed Gault was great too... designer of the 308 belt replacement system! But Magoo had wisdom beyond the cars.

This could be an interesting thread to look at the Join Dates of the people who remember the earliest FChat posters.

 

I joined in 01 and you almost knew everyone or at least everyone was familiar but not anymore. When did f-chat start?

 

Tell me about it. The place has gotten HUGE. I'll see guys in the euro section that have several thousand posts, and I have never heard of them. Not that I'm that well know but, back in the day you were familiar with the names. Not so these days.

Same here...sure do miss chatting with those guys. Magoo and Ed helped me tremendously after I purchased the 308 back in Oct. 2001 and joined F-Chat. Glad to see Brett frequents here from time to time.

 

I asked magoo where his user name came from and he said its his bird's name, sits behind him at the computer in his cage. Thought that was funny.

 

Really? I always thought it was a reference to Mr. Magoo.
