Nice car. So £110,000 is about $165,000. That is well below any low mileage, non-salvage 458 being offered here in the US. So my question is can anyone offer a guesstimate (or better yet, specifics) as to what additional costs one would incur to bring a car under these circumstances into the US? I'd also like to know how this differs from country to country in case anyone cares to chime in.

u cannot bring cars, that are not US spec, into the US, before they are 25 of age.

Otherwise, believe me, you would be FLOODED already

Thanks, that makes sense. I recall discussions in the past about some F-cars going through US-spec conversions to make them legal. Would that apply to an under 25 year old car or is importing them now just prohibited under any circumstances? Just curious -- even though my recollection is that conversions are very expensive and would make any price difference meaningless anyway...

like in canada where it 15 years or less and there is talk they are going to pull the plug on it. and Yes, you can there is a company called Baltimore tech and GNK. If you got the money and time they can certify only a couple of cars. Now you're right if your looking for exempt for 49 state but 50 state cali you will need to spend any where to $7k~50Kor +++more, depending on the year. so have a read on this before jumping in on this.

Now this is not an easy process spent about 6 months getting DOT/EPA for a temp import and gotta ship it out and its a long and complicated process and this one is sub 8 years old.

1st off looks like a deal but - no warrenty and if you can conveince GNK or Blatimore tech to take on this you're easily looking well north of $50k and by the time you get done with transport and all of that stuff your going to be in the same price as what you would get something here in the states for. Not to mention this is how it goes

    1) need an import broker to submit the letters to
    EPA/DOT/USCBP.

    2) the car has to be sent to an RI to do the certifications

    3) once grated and agreements are made
#1 will take 90days in submitting and getting responses
#2 will take longer if they are backed up and will be bonded to them in the process.
#3 shipping and until time of release 1 year+

so using cost analysis and factoring in your time, your at a loss and there is a chance paper work or some unforeseen issues can pop up and your going to have to ship the car back on your expense.

you will need a broker who knows cars.

Op, apologizing to you not meaning to thread jack your sale but I hope you find a local buyer or sell it to a RHD country. Good luck.

Thanks guys for the info. It's been awhile since I've given any thought to gray market cars and as I kind of expected, it's still not worth the time, money and effort for the average guy and also, apologies to the OP for the thread hijack.

Back to the car for sale: since it's RHD, maybe UK rules are better and someone there can consider it?

In any case, good luck with the sale!

You say the whole car is covered in XPel wrap??

Is this a clear wrap just to protect the car against stone chips that can be taken off?

That was a cheap car. However even for a UK buyer it wouldn't make sense.

    £100,000 purchase

    £10,000 import duty

    £5,000 shipping

    £22,500 v.a.t

    £1000 EU Cert of Confirmity

Before you've made any alterations to the car to make it legal here.

And then, £5,000 for a pair of black racing seats.
