For sale is a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa. The vehicle is finished in red over black leather interior. Current mileage is approximately 47,400 miles. This car presents as a nice, driver quality car. It is stock in appearance with the only deviations being an aftermarket radio and vinyl shield stickers on the front fenders. Service records indicate the car has had three previous owners; one in Texas and two in California. Extensive service history shows the car benefited from regular use and maintenance. The original jack and lug wrench are present but the tool roll and pouch are not. The only book present is an owner’s manual. The vehicle is currently fitted with an aftermarket stereo.

Cosmetics: The car present well. The paint matches, has a deep luster, and good shine. I believe the front fenders and hood have been painted but I’m unsure about the rest of the car. There is the occasional chip and door ding but nothing that jumps out or detracts from the overall appearance of the vehicle. The wheels are in good shape overall but there is some light curb rash on a couple of them. All glass appears to be original and in good condition with no chips or cracks. The interior is also in good condition. The leather is clean and relatively supple. Even the driver’s bolster has very little wear. There does not appear to be any evidence of leather dye or paint used. The carpets are in good shape with some wear to the driver’s heel pad area. The floor mats are in good shape. The dash leather is very nice with the exception of the cover for the radio. There’s some shrinkage there. The headliner is clean and does not have any sag, staining, or tears. The leather wrapped steering wheel shows little to no wear. The driver’s door seal running vertically is a bit loose due to being rubbed from entry and exit over the years. The front lower spoiler has some scraping and chips at the corners but is in pretty good shape. Overall, this is a very good looking car that has no immediate cosmetic needs to be enjoyed as is.

Functionality: This is a mechanically sound, good driving car. The engine fires up quickly and idles smoothly. The engine compartment is very clean and tidy and does not deviate from stock appearance. The engine itself is very dry. The car benefits from recently having both fuel distributors recently rebuilt. Both of the EHA valves were replaced and two of the fuel injectors were replaced as well (the others were cleaned and tested good). As such, the car is quick and has an excellent idle. The car does not run hot and both of the cooling fans function as they should. The car was also recently serviced having had the oil and filter changed, new air filters, and a coolant change. Spark plugs were also replaced at this time. A rusty expansion tank was replaced with a new unit.

The brakes are in good functional condition. They pull the car down quickly with good pedal feel and no pull. The pads have plenty of life remaining and the rotors have little to no wear.

Vehicle accessories are all functional. Both of the windows go up and down smoothly but slowly (not glacial). Both seatbelts travel the length of their tracks without issue. All gauges function as they should. The wipers work on intermittent and both higher speeds. Exterior lighting is all functional. The interior lights come on with the switch in the overhead console but do not come on when the doors are opened. The glove box switch seems to be inoperative. The driver’s seatbelt light stay illuminated at all times. The climate control system works well. The car puts out good heat and the air blows cold. The blower functions on all speeds. Airflow distribution works using the console mounted switches. All interior switchgear is present and functional (with the exception of the glove box switch). Door locks function manually from inside the car and outside with key. The electric mirrors also function as they should.

Needs: The vehicle is due for a major service. Second gear has a whine to it. It’s not obnoxious but it’s definitely present. Interestingly enough, the car engages second on both the up and down shifts without issue, even when cold. The tires have plenty of tread but have some dry-rot and are mismatched. The front hood struts are weak. The warmer the ambient temps the better they hold.

Of note: The vehicle title is held by Putnam Leasing. I’ve worked with Putnam many times over the years and found them exceptionally easy to deal with. Whoever purchases the car will wire all funds directly to Putnam and the title will be sent directly to you. I do not hold your title or your funds.

Overall, this car represents a great opportunity to get a solid, driver quality Testarossa. Though the car is higher mileage and has service needs, it’s a great car that can be enjoyed immediately.

Great price. Hope someone picks this up before a dealer comes to flip it for much higher.

SOLD. Thanks for the space Ferrarichat and the quick responses by everyone. Me thinks I was priced a tad low. However, I was looking for an easy transaction and certainly got it.

And there in it to make a buck. They really have no passion for the cars. The dealers motto is "rip it and flip it"

That is a very ignorant thing to state. There are plenty of dealers that are extremely passionate about owning, driving and enjoying the sport. And there are many that care only about making a dollar, maybe you only know the latter...

Not a fair comment at all. Many dealers have taken their passion for cars beyond a weekend passion and made it their life and career full time. That is an unfair stereotype and considering you don't know the dealer, not funny at all!

You are right. There are some dealers that are passionate about cars but they are the minority.

Back on track, Congrats Tyler. My prediction.....dealer will do an engine out, detail the engine bay, fix the surface rust on the airbox intake tray. 50% chance they address the 2nd gear. Repair the front grill. Im going with Stardoc on this one....$110K.

After they did the repairs you mentioned how much do you think they would be in the car for?

$3k in parts not including tearing open the Trans. A Major kit is $1,500? So I threw in another $1,500 for misc.

Sounds like you are assuming the dealer is a Ferrari dealer or have their own shop with the know how to do a major service on a Testarossa? Otherwise they pay what we do to have a Ferrari dealer or others perform the work. No way they will only have to put $3k into this car to bring it up to a $100k+ car.
