Billy Gibbons is pretty cool...ran into him back when Billy Blues was happening......James Harman and the Dangerous Gentlemen, IIRC.

He signed a Tres Hombres CD, after I rummaged in the car for it!

That's us, man .........rubbin' elbows with the stars! LOL!

I'm thrown so far back, they are film prints man!

You should see the James Fraher prints of Buddy Guy sitting on his Ferrari though...........13 x 17" and he signed them, along with the guitar!!!!!

He was on the cover of Living Blues in 1993 leaning against the fender......

Like me he kept the car and ditched the wife!!!!!!! LOL!

What's an email, I'll pop 'em to ya!

wow, glad to read all the fun :) the guitar is a 2000 model "1970's" Fender reissue. i started the thread about "vintage" guitars since 1) i have so many 2) all of the old threads with pics are lost. :)

the REALLY funny thing is, Annie Allman ( yes the sister of the Allman Brothers) owns the guitar shop here where i got the guitar. she is also very surprised to see a reissue with such nice wood and a highly flamed neck. the guitar should not exsist outside of the Fender Custom shop. the thing plays great and looks like a million bucks. i dont know squat about wood, but we are sure its a maple body and not an ASH or ALDER body. again, a birdseye maple body should not be on a reissue, and its 100% as new and original, complete with the case and papers....... makes ya wonder what kind of neat stuff Ferrari and Fender have had roll off the production lines ! i would love to see some more guitar pics folks!!!

    thanks for the support, :)

yea , sorry i was super happy after a crappy weekend, i never meant to to mislead anyone, i didnt / dont care about the reissue thing, i have been wanting a Strat with the fat headstock ( aka "70's era ) and the wood just floored me. i am not an implusive buyer of anything, but i saw it and that was IT! :)

Wolfgang, fyi - Grady didn't play last night. But I'll catch them next week. They play regularly at the Cont. Club. Also, I have an ultra rare CD. It's a bootleg from ~1992 by the Arc Angels. Probably the best live bootlegs I've ever heard. If you'd like a copy, drop me your address in a PM, or if you prefer, I can create an .ISO file that you can download & burn yourself.

    Here is his reply

    "Matt!

This is evidently a '70's reissue Strat - big headstock with a 3 bolt neck. The natural ash body is attractive and period correct. They were and are built at both the Fender Corona and Mexican factories. Not so bizarre, but certainly very nice!

Nice little collection of basses there. Hamer Chaparral 12 (def the bass of choice for doing the Dug Pinnick/Kings X thing), Rickenbacker 4000, non-reverse T-bird, and of course the Dan Armstrong (Ampeg sold them for a while under their name too I think). I've played a couple of the DA guitars over the years, but never a bass. They can be a bit heavy as the lucite is rather dense (it is like plastic/glass after all), but they're definitely cool. Nice pics! :)

well, thank you, a year later Matteo. i have no idea why i never replied.

love the pics in the thread, i need to find another Les Paul. i think in Tobbaco Sunburst. so much to do, so little time.

Mystery, i bet your "ANGEL" has a great voice. i have had more Gibsons than i have had cars. the older ones get a great tone as they age. quality woods seem to have a voice of thier own as time goes on. the lighter guitars seem to have a brighter tone.

i sold that Les Paul Custom last year. i had that axe for 13 years or so?

we all make stupid choices now and then. :)

still have my Strats and the Schecters.
