I wonder if it might be in this shot which I think is the start of the 62 Nassau race. There are some fabulous cars in this picture. Crazy to think of what the net value is compared to original costs.

When in 62 was the Nassau race?

The second car on the left looks like the nose of a 63 Corvette.

It is Nassau 1962; by December m/63 cars had already been out for several months!

#81 is Geri Georgie with his 250GT SWB 1931/GT, but who is #62?

    Best wishes, Kare

Should be 3005/GT of Thiem. But then there is #9: Ferrari or non-Ferrari?

    Best wishes, Kare

The following link has a partial list of entrants and serial numbers.

    http://wsrp.wz.cz/nassau.html

You will have to select the year from the drop down menu. Hope it is of some help.

    http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/2445GT.250GT.htm
The car was destroyed at Arnage............well not quitely. The car had a major LHS damage as can be seen on page 141 Ferrari Ecurie Francorchamps by Gianni Rogliatti. And I have a color photo when the car is loaded with a forklift on a depannage truck at Arnage where the hood is still on the car (no windscreen and clearly it was painted silver over red without dismantling the windscreen and race no. 59).
The barchetta page claims the car is destroyed, but it isnt. 2445GT has a 61 comp. chassis and damage (incl old repair; welds) can be seen on this car today. 1965GT 'title only' was rebuilt completely (incl chassis). For customs purposes Ecurie swapped many times numbers on many Ferraris (saved a lot paperwork to transport a car to a country)
Maybe somebody here on Fchat or Ecurie specialist knows more. Barchetta is often wrong even the book Ecurie (and historians).

    Just my 2 cents.

Now a 2nd car is offered with this number (1965GT) with some nice description on the papers: 250 GT SWB
SWB's do not exist! 250 GT Berlinetta's do
    Saw the photos........wrong chassis stampings.
".........the car has its original chassis...." YEAH RIGHT!
    BE AWARE!

    TomGT is correct about 2445.

1965GT was destoryed and a new car was delivered to Francorchamps, s/n 2445, which used the 1965 carnet in order not to pay the duties, as was done all the time in those days.

At Le Mans in '61, 2445 was crashed and badly damaged at the left front, but certainly not destroyed.
In fact the reapair was not that difficult and it was done by Drogo who welded in parts of the chassistubes on both sides at the front (the welds can be seen) and put on the different nose and tail.
The complete center section, interior and doors are original.

The orginal 2445 chassisplate was hammered down, filled with lead and 1965GT stamped in.
When the lead was melted out, 2445GT was still there, although somewhat damaged from the hammering down.

The engine of 2445 has been separated from the car long ago and should be in Switzerland. (Marcel M, do you know where??)
Maybe Swaters had enough engines from crashed cars and needed the money, or a client needed an engine quickly.

The car's restoration will be finished in 2009.

Marcel, I believe that the photo's of the 1965 numbers are not actually the photo's of the car in France, the owner just uses these pics to make believe his car is 1965, even though you can see the numbers are not real......

    Why?
Wouldn't you want fresh new leather on a new car you are buying???????
Again, the engine pic is most likely not a picture of the engine in that car (and I think I know where the pic comes from....)

Two emails regarding the fake black 1965GT "france" one from G. vd K. (B) and one from H. v I S. (NL) both are searching for more info for their clients. Well I know the answer: sell the car as a complete replica please!

    Correct, 2445 is a 61 alloy comp car, 2069 a steel car.
61 comp are different in chassis and body than 60 cars. Chassis: 61 has round tubes where 60 car has some square tubes.
And there are many more differences.

The engine 2445 was never in the car, there was a spare engine with the car which we bought in the US , I know that it was an original engine out of a SWB, but I am not sure which engine number it was.
Here is a picture of 2839 when it was in the Netherlands.
