jon nice pics... the 512 bb's gorgeous man... by evo do you mean mitsu evo? that's seriously alchemy man! i HAVE seen everything...... anyone knows the owner of 360 spider #2121? first novitec modded fcar i've seen in town... a reeaal babe
He meant the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, the one with the 'serious' looking rear that I was talking about. It's the test-bed car before they cleaned up the front (and rear too)and called it the Ferrari F40...
Does anyone know if spacers put wheels out of balance at high speed? My tyre shop guy said that he can't balance the front wheels as the imbalance is too great and that I should invest in a new set of rims with offset. Can I do anything else other than buying new rims?
Hi Tuck, not sure about that, maybe you should post on the tech section or Pcar forums. Those guys use a lot of spacers & their knowledge on suspension, camber, toe settngs are simply amazing. Most Fcar owners don't use spacers since there's little choice on rims. Just paid HongSeh, Lambo & a Long a visit. There's a new metallic gunmetal RHD 430 spider with red interior in the workshop! Saw another early Red TR with newer plate on hoist. There's also a metallic blue 512TR along with several Maseratis, 360s etc. Lambo has a new metallic dark green Murcie in the showroom. My turn for new paint job with A-Long is March 06! My this guy is booked! He doesn't really want to do bare metal. There's an ultra rare DP converted 911SC which he has been working on for 2yrs & still in putty state. Strange car, has 928 pop up lamps & there's radiators/coolers on the side vents b4 rear wheels like early Rufs. Off topic: I've just did new S. steel exhaust headers on my 911. It's the early '70s free flow type. Completely transformed the car! Very responsive & lively sound. Revs easily, very much like a Ferrari @ >5K rpm. I did before & after dyno tests to see the gain. Maybe we can do the same on our early Ferraris here. I'm thinking of using Pcar technology on 3X8s. Such as converting to EFI motec or PMO Carbs (replacements for webbers). I'm sure they can be adapted to our V8s fairly easily. Can anybody share?
Thanks Chariot, nice to see it being used. This is a working protoype, I can't remember the name. Very bare interior & no roof! There's no glass up front, more like glorified steel parts. One early Ferrari has such design with a bulbous acrylic over the webbers! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi! Are your current spacers the 'hub-centric' type ? The ones normally with a raised spigot section ? Lots of Fcars use spacers to get the correct offset and also for better handling..eg : the 348s, Novitec wheels on 550s etc... The good hubcentric ones are normally balanced and in some cases if it's too thick,i.e 25mm spacers...better to use the adapter type. Better drop a line to one of our sponsors, Paul Hill of Hill Engineering.
Just curious, is the owner of red F430 no.7888 around here? Had a heavenly encounter with it from Tanglin till Stevens Road. You made my day, thank you so much. It was like God shouting at me, but I enjoyed it hehe.
Hey Lung, there's really some 360s for sale as some F430s are previous 360s owners. Saw three young fellows, each of them driving 360 spiders. New plates, old cars.
Hey Clive, thanks for the pics on the lamps. I'm looking for the round taillamps with LEDs on the perimeter or maybe a set of all those round lights. How can I get them? How's the progress on Mondials? I had a look @ the McLaren again with the tri-seats, quite interesting. Wonder if it feels like a pilot while driving it! Would be good for a small family or two chicks
An Adapter is used when the spacers becomes thick, i.e 25mm and above. It's basically the same method EXCEPT the spacer( with 10 holes for 5 bolt fitments) is first bolted onto the mounting flange/hub and the other set of holes, i.e 5 are females to be bolted on via the bolts from the wheels.... Getting hub-centric spacers locally, I'm not sure of. Eibach/H&R/OMP makes them but not sure of Fcar fitments ( Novitec makes them for fitments of their 19" wheels which has 360 offsets to fit 550/575). Hill Engineering in the UK makes them and as said earlier you can click on them( site sponsors) and have a look at their products. The spacers and adapters are pictured and from what I gather in talks regarding spacers/track widening for 348s......, Fchatters swears by his products. No affiliation to HE, just my $0.02.... Good Luck
Sorry, thought it was for your TR. Techart and Gemballa makes 'em for the Porker. I believe both have dealers in SG.
