FYI, the targa roof smooth in body color was a factory option at the time.

I really like that look! I have not had my roof panel painted (lower maintenance with the black finish, plus I usually drive with the roof off). Well done!

I have a 91 Euro model and I beleive they all came colour coded.
I noticed you installed 360 wheels, looks great. I recently did the same but I have a rubbing problem when I hit road bumps at moderate speeds, do you have the same problem?...at rear tires?

Mike are you sure about that? I could never find any info that stated that. The later 355s could be ordered with the painted top but I didn't think the 348s could be. Regards, Vern

You can sand down the grain really easy and paint it...its what most shops would do. I think all 348ts's had the grainy plastic top.

True. Strip or sand the grain off before painting the roof. If ou paint the grain as it is from the factory you will not be happy.

It looks great, and really updates the look of the car.

I did the same thing with mine, but I also had the black on the engine cover painted body color.

My understanding is only 355s had smoothg body-colored tops.

Love it! Looks much better! Has a "berlinetta" look to it which is appealing in my eyes.

Most 89-92 cars have this done already. If you had the black matte parts on the lower sections of the car painted, approx. how much did it cost? Is special paint needed? Thanks!

Looks great. I'd leave the top of the engine bay black as it takes away the monotony of all red, IMHO.

Paint cost about $3,000 to do top & Bottom. The top needed to be sanded smooth & the bottom is just a type of paint that is sprayed to make a rough texture. I left the deck lid alone for looks & also I was afraid of matching the color in such a high heat area.

ecoloqua: Hope to see that 348 soon

I'd like to get a few f-car owners together for a drive up through the N.Ga mountains. My cousin w/the Mondial has been wanting to go.

Regardless, I will def. be at the next Giovanni's gathering. Looking forward to checking out your car!
