OH........MY........GOD. Karajan had passion for fast cars....??? And I share the same passion of cars as Herbert von Karajan. I can't get over that.!! I got goose bumps all over. Karajan has been my hero since I got into Classical music. He was my most faverite conductor of them all. No one.... during his time conducted music like him. He got passion, strength, power, precision in his music. The famous Beethoven symphony #5 by Karajan is THE second best only to Beethoven conducting himself. Knowing Karajan had passion for fast cars, now I can understand his music, himself and myself much better. When I am at a speed of 280 km/h, the feeling is so extream exact same as Karajan music at the finale blasting through my ears......... ...........out of this world.

I love this quote! “He had to have his private plane, the most beautiful woman on Earth and a sailing boat somewhere on the Cote d’Azur. Evidently those were his necessities; I’m not sure he loved them; perhaps he just needed them,” Peter Schmidl, Vienna Philharmonic, said.
He must have had driven his Ferraris from and to his beautiful Villa in St Tropez, Cap Sud ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine as well - I had the great opportunity to hear Karajan live at the Salzburg Festival 1987 and 1988 - his charisma, precision and leadership were unbelievable! In Salzburg there was an incredible clash of car freaks: Herbert von Karajan was extremely proud of his brand new Ford GT40 - of course with road legal Salzburg registration plate „S112“ One day during a festival rehearsal young (and sensationally talented) mezzosoprano Grace Bumbry parked her brandnew Lamborghini Miura in the festival district. Karajan was really shocked that HIS „Carmen“ stole his show. He could not believe that the young singer hat a better car than himself. It has to be said that Grace Bumbry was really a very talented driver who was capable to race a miura at trackdays, even in the wet. Karajan (not aware of her second stunning talent) invited her to a dragrace in the middle of ancient Salzburg city center - and LOST the race… Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
