Definitely will be one of the most watched starts in all the races thus far. Hopefully it will be clean. Watch the apex into turn one. At this track last year being on the dirty line had the advantage.

Lots of other motorsport news today too - Montoya is free to leave McLaren if he waives his remaining fees. Spanish bank to sponsor McLaren. Dixon has pole at Sonoma with Marco second. Rolex Grand Am race later today.

Big news seems to be with Ferrari's rear wheel fairings - Ron Dennis made it clear his team will not go as far as lodging a protest with the governing body.

Yesterday on Speed they mentioned that Massa is also point wise in contention for the championship and today would answer that issue.

    Felipe Massa 11 30.5 *
    Michael Schumacher 11 30.0
    Fernando Alonso 11 30.5 *
    Giancarlo Fisichella 11 30.0
    Ralf Schumacher 11 30.0
    Nick Heidfeld 11 30.0
    Jenson Button 11 30.0
    Kimi Raikkonen 10 27.0
    Robert Kubica 11 30.0
    Mark Webber 10 27.0

    * Additional 0.5kg as a fuel sample was taken from the cars after qualifying

    Good morning Carol et all.

I was concerned something stupid would happen at the start of the USGP, fortunetely it was further back on the grid and did not affect the Ferraris. But since that race, we have witnessed Alonso doing some rather questionable "emotionally guided actions" that are cause for concern, and bring me to wonder how agressive he will be on the first turn/first lap.

    This will be interesting.

What a surprise, GF screwing up at the first corner causes all the mess.

GF's spin going into the turn is what triggered most of the accident, although yes SS was at fault for his rear ending KR.

Good morning guys - it looked like GF was his own worst enemy but it was Speed that caused the demise of Kimi on the replays. Massa just had fastest lap of race. Way to go!!!

Are you sure was him? On the replay it looked more like MS playing dirty again on Alonso which initiated the mess.

What was with stacking MS behind FM...they just gave Renault the place over MS.

There was no dirty playing. Not even close.

Nothing that happened in the first 5-6 grid spots caused the accident. Looked like GF spun, maybe he was helped from behind, but couldn't tell from the video. SS did run into the back of KR when KR braked because of the spin in front of him.

gap to Massa is now down to 1 sec - perhaps the fuel load was involved as a stacking factor - now the brightest move of the day - just what alonso needed as I think he going to have to settle for third the rest of the race - go ferrari - perhaps MS should have stayed out??

can you tell I don't want Alonso in the points - AT ALL !!

I don't remember Steve Matchett saying anything about that - I think they were so caught by the stacking that he forgot to mention it!!

Yamamoto stranded on side of track - come on safety car!!!!

team radio telling Rosberg he has problems with car - darn I wish he was driving a decent car so he can achieve his driving potential

Stacking Michael, it cost him a position. How many mistakes can the red cars make and stay in contention. We'll see I guess.

Matchett believes MS has 5-6 more laps in the tank than FA.

Not really a mistake. It would have been too obvious if MS could have passed FM, which he could not do anyway since course went to yellow. And the rules only allow one pit per team during the race.

Ferrari had a plan, the car on the track causing the yellow ruined that plan.
