Does anyone know what the stock factory set boost should be on an F-40? The handbook does not say. There is an "overboost light" in the guage but at what point does it come on?

Thanks, The reason I asked is because today I swear it looked like the guage went over to near 20 psi. Then I got out the european owners manual and the USA owners manual and it says nothing about the amount of boost set by the factory. 20 psi is about 1.36 BAR. Are you sure yours only goes to 16?

I have never noticed the boost go over about 16 psi... but I must confess, when I'm on the boost, I can only get a quick glance at the guage.

I think the Euro blow off valve holds a few more pounds of boost than the US-spec one. Do you know which one you have?

I think it's the bov, but it might be something else. Reason I ask is since you mentioned looking in the European owner's manual.

This car is a 1990 US car and I have a US owners manual. I just happened to stumble across an F-40 Owners manual on E Bay last year so I bought it for $35.00. The information in the two manuals is definately different. Have any of you ever had the over boost light actually turn on? I was curious to know at what pressure it comes on. I'll drive it again this evening and pay close attention to the needle. Simon you are right, this car is like a rocket and it is not a good habit to stare at it very long while accelrating. You will hit something!!

the most you can boost an f40 with the factory computers even with carobu chips is between 18 and 19 pounds. any more than that and the computer limiter cuts in. you could boost it more and still be safe but the computer wont let you, f40Lm cars ran the boost at well over 2 bar

Upon further review, the boost is stopping at around or slightly over 16 lbs but not near 20 lbs as I first thought. I find it curious that there is nothing published in any of the factory manuals or data with the car that even mentions specs for boost!!

I agree. First thing I did when I saw you original post was check the workshop manual... Couldn't find it there either.
