Per the official IMS website, it's on for June 17 http://www.usgpindy.com/news/story.php?story_id=7374 Gentlemen, start your planning...
We're back at the TownePlace Suites @ $119/night for the 2 bedroom suites. Not bad http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/INDTS Will/Rob/Dave, I checked the downtown Omni -- no rooms available for that weekend. I suppose the hotel had advance warning on the dates
I may have to make the pilgrammage on this one, take the kids....... I camp in Grandma's backyard on 27th street, three houses down on the left..... We'd better go jump in the Speedway Hotel pool before they level the place. Man, if THOSE walls could talk.....
We decided this year that since we spent all our time downtown that we wouldn't come out that far behind just staying there the weekend. Omni was first choice, we'll have to look into the others.
We may also, but went ahead and grabbed a reservation out there just to have something in hand. I suspect Omni will have 'USGP Packages' available shortly @ 3x the normal rate
It's too long of a story of how blocks of rooms become available to certain travel agents. But I booked the Omni in Jan. 06 at $279. Canceled 3 times to a lower rate. Paid $159. Keep something in hand you can cancel. My wife is a travel agent. She reviews daily for the best deals and cancels. Example: The Weston went from booked 10 days before the race, to $150, to $200. She saved TifosiRon some $ at the Weston, but if she had contact with him on the right day she could have done much better. I will keep you Texans informed.
I read an article with a spectulative date of 24 June with Canada 17 June. Oh well, we already have tickets booked for LeMans again this year which should be 16-17 June. Guess we'll miss the "final episode" of the USGP Indy. Carol
Word got around fast... For kicks I just looked for a room downtown, all the major hotels down there are totally blocked out. The only one I found downtown that would let you make a reservation was the Hampton Inn at $329/night...
"Guess we'll miss the "final episode" of the USGP Indy" Does this imply that the USGP is dead after '07?
Speculation is this is the last USGP at Indy... Look for Vegas, or something else rather than the modified oval (in the rust belt of american decline)
These guys are now charging $270/night for a 1 bedroom. Hope ya got your rooms before the price boost
FIA comfirmed today the date for the USGP. For those not watching the calendar, that's also Father's Day. Not an issue for me, might impact some other folk.
I saw in the Racing area that ticket forms are arriving. Where is the best spot to sit, and have you been moving around during the race or staying in one spot? Still would like to buy in with a group.
