wow very interesting forum indeed! I enjoyed looking at all of the proposals! some good talent and skill here.

just to add my two cents (maybe this point was mentioned but i did not read thru the whole 44 pages so sorry if i repeat somebody elses opinion). Dino was a pretty revolutionary shape when it first came out! after all, the 308 and the 512 and even all the rest of the cars up to todays 430 borrowed its basic themes from the dino!
Modern day dino needs to be a dna donor for the rest of the ferraris! not a shy sibling but a bold and incrediby daring design. something with a potential to feed the aesthetics for the 20 years to come! techno or fluid, complex or simple... it does not matter, but it needs to shock and facinate! the same way an lp400 and the dino cometizione facinated people in the sixties and seventies! And look, with the dino we have a chance to be much more bold and much more extreme! its buyers are not as status conscious as the buyers of the 612 and 599! on avarage our customer group is younger and more progressive then the rich super successful old clients of the scaglietti! plus, our car bears no ferrari badge so it can be more extreme but still not offend the ferrari brand image.

I would personally vote strongly against a very retro interpretation. I tried my best in my diploma project. capturing the dino soul without the tracing of lines! this was over a year and a half ago, had i done it now i would have changed a few things or even done a whole new car! but i must say i still like some of the form language and some of the zaha hadid inspirations that went into my dino.

please check it out and shear your opinions! i would love to see what real fans like yourselves think of my design.

Welcome Sasha, I saw your concept Dino last year and was very impressed.
Your rendering skills are so unique and the design vision is more year 2020 than 2010.

I like your design proposal, but its more of a design work of art, that could become a one-off concept.

I wonder if it's feasible as is, or should it be watered down for everyday use , it's a beatifull and innovative design in it's uniqueness, but can see the shock lurking in the eyes of a ferrari fan.

I believe a ferrari enthusiast is a little more conservative than a Lamborghinis, and he accepts innovation and far off designs not as easily.

I agree with you on the Dino badge, but the ferrari heritage is so strong, that when we tried to push a little, most had a negative reaction to some of the more advanced proposals.

If you have the 44 pag. you will get an idea of what we have done, and all of the the various comments, we have now settled on designs that are more feasible, maybe not as daring or innovative or forward looking, but something a little closer to 2010.

A few of us are working on more extreme sketches, that I will post later in the process, but I know that they will not be considered.

Please show us some of your rough sketches, and maybe your new Dino, if you had the chance to change your concept.

But most of all, this project started us fun, and we are having lot's of it...:), I hope you can enjoy the open discussions, and the low pressure nature of this project.
I hope I can see some of your rough sketches soon...

    Welcome and Benvenuto
    Italo

I think that good design spreads like wildfire....!

You can still start here for your new Ferrari Dino project, without having to wait for the Pininfarina call..:)

    Enjoy the ride!!!!!!

When I was younger, I fell in love with Catherine Deneuve. I think because of that, I love sensuous curves. AKA P 4/5.

As in the original Dino, I believe this car should be more curves than angles. I like the direction the designs are going, especially your last rendering. Once we have taken governmental requirements into account in the design, I do not think this car needs to be built for everyone, in other words, in does not have to fit a 6'2" 210 pound driver. The car should be aimed at the enthusiast, not the social Ferrari buyer. The car needs to be low, corner like a go-kart, sound like a banshee. Its OK if it is little difficult to "climb" into, as in an Elise.

I have a friend that has an F430, Ford GT, Viper GT, SL55, Z8, Shelby Mustang, and an Elise. He drives the Elise 95% of the time, even though his head hits the headliner, and he has to contort himself to enter and exit. It is the most fun of all. That should be the new Dino.

I hope I am explaining myself. This car should not be a Ferrari for the masses. It should be the enthusiast's Ferrari. So lower the roof line, drop the suspension, minimize spoilers and other trim, give me a car for which F430's owners will want to trade and to which others will want to upgrade.

    Just my opinion.

    Sasha,

I've expressed the exact same thing. I feel the same as you about how this new Dino should be handled. Maybe because we have similar backgrounds. Is that ART CENTER I see (TRANS '89)? :)

Oh, welcome to the board...and to this project.

he he he, fellow art center graduate :) i finished school only last year so i guess i have at least ten times less experience then you :)

thanks again for this welcome! i will definitely keep track of what is going on here!
as far as contributing sketch work.. i will have to reall see how realistic this is in my current situation. I do at least 50-60 hours of work during the week so it is difficult to find time outside the studio. i have two very exciting projects at the moment with full size models! would hate to sacrifice this.

anyways, thanks again for your warm welcome! i am touched.

Well… At last somebody said something of my sketch!
I was thinking that my post in the forum would have some kind of problems…

Anyway, thank you for your opinion.
I like some details of it, specially the front shape and headlights.

I will try to make some more views of it when time makes that possible...

    Ernesto,

I was going to answer yesterday, but with other things on my mind I just forgot..
I like it, and the front lights are very interesting, the front air intake is really retro.

Show us more, I like your style

    Ernesto,

Your design reminds me of a cross between a AM Vanquish and a Porsche. I like it alot, but its not a Dino.

I do think it looks more Ferrari than the others, and with a few tweaks, would definetely be a candidate for a Dino.

    I agree.
Combined with my sideview and his earlier rearview it makes a fine retro Dino.

There is no need to be insecure about your contributions!
All ideas will be taken into account and may become inspiration for more new ideas.

another very rough sketch of a 206 Dino based on the F430.....and you could still keep the front radiotors in place, maybe with a slight rake....

I like the ideas, but shouldn't the designs be focoused in the Dino 246 project?

Or there are two at the same time?

    Yes, there are.

The 246 retro concept is a trial on the side.
Based on the F430 I was just wondering what it could be.

Then there was a request to think of a new 206 SP based on the F430 as a little sister of the P4/5.
    This is also a side-project.

I started this thread to design a new Dino with all the inspiration we could get from anywhere to come up with a modern version, not retro.
    That's what we're still doing.
