Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Serbia all look like very interesting investment opportunities for buying a nice big Apt w a great view of the Adriatic

Especially Slovenia as its so close to Italy

What are the downsides here ? What am I not seeing ?

Did a lot of W Europeans buy places in these countries ?

Are the prices still much lower than W Europe ?

How is the crime rate, Safety, likelihood of another war ?

    Hi,

Although this message seems off-topic I still want to reply.
The only question one has to ask is:
Why would you buy property in a country (or countries) where the locals can't wait to get away from? Lots of locals leave those countries to find luck elsewhere in Europe.
Not to mention the corruption, illegal building, problems with ownership etc. Yes, it is cheap but that doesn't it make a good investment.

    Alain,

I'm not answering for William.......but, I would speculate that most are leaving because they can't make money and want a better life. If you don't need to find a job there, then it might be a good investment op. if you think it will turn someday. Further, some places you think are terrible, once you visit for yourself, turn out to be not so bad. Esp. if your viewpoint is only from the US media. (Though I see you are from Spain, so I'm speaking generically )

Hi, just saw your posting and wanted to chime in.
All these countries you mentioned are emerging markets for vast arrays of investments i.e., real estate, tourism, manufacturing etc etc. foreign investors are slowly but surely coming in. Croatia is beautiful, so is the southern coast/part of Albania (speaking of places i've seen here). The locals are very welcoming and treat foreigners with lots of respect.
lot's of opportunities are available right now if you've got the capital and can handle risk...not saying it's extremely safe to invest there

as for locals always leaving, think of Mexico for a sec...lots of immigrants from there here in the US. however, it doesn't mean there's no money to be made in Mexico (legally, that is )

Hey William, nothing against E. Europe but have you ever thought W. Europe? Like Portugal or Spain. I bet you would like the South Of Portugal called Algarve. It's a bargain over there compared to other EU countries. Oh and It's got slutmobile written all over! ;)

If you ever think of Portugal sent me a PM. I can help.
