I wasnt sure where to put this really. Im hoping someone here has some insite into this. How much matince does an f1 engine need? I mean, the cars are constantly running, mostly at highrevs for 50? or so laps. Thats hard on the engine right? So how much matince do they do to the cars inbetween races? How hard can it really be to fix an F1 engine?

No matince. Possibly some maintenance, but engines are used for two races so they are probably sealed. Maybe ceiled. Not sure which.

Have you ever heard the expression "Flash cube motor!" Maybe that is before your time.

I kind of dropped out halfway through that article. But I don't think it's even a question of maintenance since they have the 2-race rule. Basically they use the engine until the 2nd race or the 1st detonation (whichever comes first:)) and tear it apart. The bigger teams will have all the parts inspected for stress analysis. I doubt that any engine stays the same after its 2-race lifespan, since they're constantly building new engines out of new parts.
