Those numbers are insane. I just don't see how it is possible to outlap an Enzo, something is not right there.
Look how close the F430 is to the CGT. Different days, different numbers. Bottom line is the 599 is a athlete, whether it is a tenth slower or faster is immaterial.
Very impressive! Although, Italian carmags seem infamous for getting better numbers with Italian cars just like German mags often get better times with German cars.
The 599 may have a "soft" suspension but that means more compliant. If a given track is rough then it is possible that a car, less stiff, and with enough power may beat and Enzo. The Enzo would still win if the track was perfectly smooth. It does show how perfectly balanced the new 599 is set up. They did all their homework in Maranello. aehaas
Not really , the CGT posted a faster laptime than the Enzo and for many year the record holder was the 996 GT2.
Thats 599`s second run (or is it?! im just guessing)so it is not faster than the enzo. those numbers are WOW! lateral acceleration 1.07g 0_0.
True, but there are always exceptions. I know I'm not alone about thinking like this. The car is incredible and impresses me alot! First I thought it was ugly as ****, then I saw some unofficial photos and it had already started to grow on me and after seeing irl, I barely find anything ugly about it! And now these numbers, biased mag or not that is impressive! Well done Ferrari!
Technology. Rear diff, torque, can get power to the ground more effectively. As Aehaas mentioned as well the suspension may have been well suited to the track. A stiff carbon fiber chassis in the Porsche may just bounce and slide around the track while the 599 just grunts and goes.
I bought Quattroruote today, and i read the test drive of the 599 GTB. I am also very impressed: 3.47 secs from 0 to 100 km/h, faster on the Vairano track. But those who say that italian magazines are great sponsors of italian cars aren't wrong afterall. Recently Quattroruote had on its page a match between six cars: Ferrari F430 F1 Lambo Gallardo MY06 E-Gear Porsche 997 Turbo Corvette Z06 Ford GT Dodge Viper Winner? 1st Ferrari F430 2nd Gallardo 3rd 997 Turbo 4th Ford GT 5th Dodge Viper 6th Corvette Z06 In 2005 there was another match, between: Ferrari Enzo Porsche Carrera GT Lamborghini Murcièlago Guess who won? 1st Ferrari Enzo 2nd Porsche Carrera GT 3rd Murcièlago In that occasion they invited also Saleen S7, Mercedes SLR and Pagani Zonda C12S, but they refused. But QR journalists never tested other supercars on their track: one above all, the Maserati MC12, thinking it's too similar to the Enzo. How wrong they are!!!
