I don't think the regular racing red or fly yellow work on this car, at least to judge by photographs. The reason I say this is that these colors are so bright they make it difficult to see all the fantastic sculpting on the body shape. So I think darker colors work better, because they allow you to see reflections, and thus the shape of the car, better.

I think the dark grey is very attractive, as is the darker red. I saw a color at the dealer called rosso fiorano (really!) that seemed about the right shade if you want a red.

Is there a place to see all the various reds -- scuderia, corsa, monza, rubino, fiorano?

Also, is there a consensus that a color other than a red is best for this car?

azzurro california would be a wild color for that car and I would like to see one. I think it would look amazing in TDF blue.

I've never even seen a picture of the car in anything other than Rosso Fiorano.

I second that! Ferrari of Atlanta had a SuperAmerica in that color. NNO provided some nice shots of it. Boardwalk Ferrari also had a SuperAmerica in that color is represented...

I'm going Black/Black, with a red lower dash and red daytona inserts. Yellow Tach and Yellow Calipers and Shields. Trying to decide between leather and alcantara for the inserts/lower dash.

A guy locally has had the interior all black but with just the top strip of the lower dash in red. I've include a pic to indicate. I'm considering this in red instead of the whole lower dash.

All the press pics, including the vid with F40 in Vegas, are in Rosso Monza. Thats according to jason ramey, the designer of the car, whom I had dinner with a few weeks ago. I like that color, and of course blk.blk.blk! yellow is my least favorite. All other colors I've seen look great, especially TDF.

I saw a black one at the factory in the QC area with tan interior/black daytona inserts and black stitching. Bottom half of the dash was tan. 20 inch black wheels. It was perfect. Black really shows of the lines of the car, especially with the light showing between the c pillars and the back glass.

IMO, the best looking color of character for the 599 is Grigio Silverstone over a Crema and Black interior. As others have said, I think the darker colors suit the lines better, but that won't take anything away from a Rossa Corsa, I don't think there will ever be a Ferrari that won't fit Rossa Corsa, but my red would be Rosso Monza over Beige.

I was just about to say the same thing! TDF looks great, one of my favorites. I would really like to see azzurro on a 599, I don't think I would like it, but nevertheless, it would truly be a sight.

The 599 is such a refined, dignified looking car, that not many colors work for it IMO. Only "classy" colors match it, I think it is probably the worst looking Ferrari in exotic shades--such as orange, bright green, and mettalic colors. It looks the best in darker colors I think.

Look for the thread on two-tone 599.

So much for a consensus on best color!

Rosso Monza, Silverstone, TdF Blue, Nero (esp Daytona). I think Canna di Fucile might actually be spectacular on this car. Basically, the bold metallics really look good.

IMHO Avoid Rosso Corsa, Yellow and Rosso Scuderia, or the lighter colors like Grigio Ingrid/Alloy, Nurbergring.

I think I will go for Rosso Monza over Sabbia. Only thing that might put me off if this is too popular a choice....
