Wouldn't it be cheaper to go to a leather craftsman (or whatever a guy that works with leather is called...) and have one reproduced from scratch?

Then again...is that pouch REALLY necessary in order for your car to run properly? ;)

    - "Your carbs sound kinda rough."

    - "Yup...it's that damn pouch!! It ain't workin' right!"

i am the first person to admit that these types of items aren't rewuired to enjoy dino ownership. that being said, it is fun to track stuff like this down and collect. the real stuff and not the repro's are were the fun is at. i could buy repro's all day long, but tell me where i could go buy an original any given day.

But would you spend 7K for a Dino pouch?

i have spent plenty of money on stupid dino items, but this is SO far above market it makes no sense.

on this pouch, i was outbid by lsr on the original auction. there is a reason i didn't go that high. there is also a reason noone else did either.

having said that, there was a basic red cover dino owners manual that was listed on ebay with a buy-it-now price of well over $550, and it was bought in less than 6 hours. do i think that dictates market price? no, but it does show that sometimes people will spend more. i have to believe if LSR set his minimum bid at $4000 with a buy-it-now higher, a buyer may surface.

true, they may not be the most educated buyer, but the sell would be more likely than what he has done.

no, actually, i think it is more like "it is worth only what the next perosn is willing to pay for it".

i understand, but don't subscribe to the "greater fool" theory when it comes to stupid stuff like this.

i collect it, as it is what i truely love. i have a shelf full of stuff i don't "NEED", and i have no real desire to sell. i enjoy the hunt and the satisfaction that comes from it. whether the items on my shelf are worth $1 or $1000, i don't care. i kno wthey are original and i know repro's aren't replacing the real thing, even though they may be a better alternative than the original. for instance, even i use repro key fobs for my cars.

i have originals, but i am not willing to use them for day-to-day use. the repro's are useful, but not original.

Interestingly, I have gotten a couple of emails from LSR this week.

I am now convinced that he has the ability to find this stuff, and his prices are disctated by what he believes the market demand to be. Only time will tell if he's correct.

He's also been helpful to me in providing some guidance about a couple of ebay items he feels are fakes.

Under the proper circumstances, he would be a valuable resource here. Might be time to (GASP) consider un-banning him.

    Just tossin' it out there.

I think if he understands the limitations placed on him as a non sponsor, i.e. no selling his goods, and we try to give him at least a little benefit of the doubt, he could be an interesting contributor.

Worth a shot, I think, considering how hard it is to find some of the stuff he seems to be able to get his hands on.

And maybe, he can consider becoming a sponsor if he has enough business to support it.

Besides, if he falls on his face, just re-ban, this time make it permanent.

if lsr/orlando was to to contribute rather tha sell/argue, i feel he would be more than welcomed.

clearly, he is a ferrari fan and in the right country to help us usa guys. the question is are we willing to forgive the language differences if he is will to forgive our suspitions?

i think it is worth a try, like others, worse case, he can always be BANNED again.

what do we have to lose?

    Continue the ban.
    Items nearly all misdescribed.
    False misleading sales presentations.

Tom I understand your point but that really isn't a reason for banning him or anyone. If he misrepresents his items on ebay then ebay have the right to ban him but if he wants to have his say on this board then freedom of speech is what you guy in the US are all about and is what I believe as long as if he wants to sell his stuff or plug his stuff on FChat then he should be a sponsor. In reality if (and I'm not saying that he would or does) rip someone off on the board then really thats a matter for the parties involved and they should all have there say.Just my .02cents

I agree with freedom of speach comments, but the quality of the forum and it's content is important. Previous conversation (confrontations) from this vendor have not been constructive. Just asked Keith W., who has a lot to contribute to the forum on L series cars, and his commercial experience.

You will find less and less of the knowledgable crowd will engage, if the quality of the forum continues to drift down in quality of individuals in the forum and the forum's content.

TS speaks wise words....BIG difference in behavior, between a vendor of quality and integrity and a salesman, interested in finding the highest price the uninitiated may be willing to pay.....the 'real' vs. 'unreal' slight of hand is especially troubling....

D@MN! The snap just fell off my pouch.....should I keep both pieces?? LOL!

    Mornin' Alan!!

    Mornin' Tom!!!!

Good to hear some of the respected early riser voices chiming in on this one.

There appears to be a concensus of opinion here, and I'll defer to the opinions of my FerrariChat brothers.

Having asked for and received people opinions from the Fchat community for the time being LSR’s ban will stay in place, as Tom S has already posted Fchat’s success is down to the quality and integrity of the people who regularly post here. If the majority of people feel LSR would benefit the Ferrari community I’ll happily lift the ban.

Just for the record he was banned because he had two accounts running and was using one to shore up his posts with the other, not because of the quality of his items on eBay and the descriptions thereof.

Sorry, I should have qualified my post, I meant that his ebay sales are quite often discussed on this forum, could be a matter of price or description, either way he gets attention and publicity.

ok tom so if this guy is going to let someone /anyone win this thing am i correct in reading that the likelihood of receiving it at all or recieving a really bad substitute is almost a lock.
thus would you suggest i retract my bid .no point being fully armed with all of this foresight and planning to get screwed out of money or the pouch as pictured.
    please advise?

I recommend play by the rules, no retraction. I assume this is the pouch the fellow purchased from Keith W for approx 4600$ +. I am not saying, nor assuming, nor inferring there will be bait and switch with the Dino Pouch.

Most of the CHATTERS all know the players. Let' s sit back and see this saga unfold. I would bet (and will give odds) the auction will be closed early or shilled if the bid remains at the present $2000.

Let's watch the noose tighten, all on it's own.
