Doing a bit of research and coming up empty handed - wondering if anyone can help. "Le feits" is a famous whorehouse in Paris, France. But what does it mean...? The what...? I can't find a definition for "feits" anywhere. Google, Wikipedia, Alta Vista - they all yield blank, fruitless searches... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Merci.

    I wish...!

Just doing a bit of research on the word... And if you Google "le feits", you'll see myriad results mentioning a famous Paris whorehouse... So "feits" must mean something, even if it's just a slang word... Where's Andrew Menasce...? :)

man you got me wondering to now. my search turned up the full name of the place.
    Le Feits du Tempts

tempts and feits are not found even in the slang or vulgar refference. i thought it might be a pronoun which can loose or get it's spelling changed based on usage but it didn't work there eithier.

Sorry, everyone, there is no link... The word came up in conversation and it was learned that "le feits" is a famous whorehouse in France... After that, the goal was simply to find out the meaning of "feits", which, thus far, has been unachieved...

If you Google "le feits", you'll see results for a whorehouse - that would be the only link I could provide as proof that, in some case, "feits" is used as a word... I've googled "feits" by itself and it has shown up on a few myspace pages, but that's it... Whenever I try to translate text in Alta Vista, it translates (almost) everything except "feits"...

Finding the meaning or origin of this word has been no small feit - er, I mean feat... :)

So in an unusual conversation today with a few French fashion designers, models, and press, all sitting around bored, I brought this up. I'll admit I suck at small talk, and no matter how disturbing the topic, I get people to open up, usually they end with burning me at the stake.

One person said "feit" is in fact "fact" in Dutch. The French are not known for mixing other languages with their own, so the suggestion I heard is that perhaps, is it a surname.

Regardless, a 60 year old fashion house partner said he has never heard of such a name, but could name many other brothels like a walking encyclopedia of French whore-history.

edit: oh wait, now after googling some more it appears to be some goth-vampire roleplaying game and quite possibly not a real place but perhaps created in literature.

NNO, if you want to get spanked by a goth girl, just find your local revival of the Rocky Horror Picture show, I am sure for a bucket of popcorn, they'll fake a French accent. It is also this fantasy crowd that will swear it is a real place. May I suggest Jewish goth girls, they are total freaks even by goth freak standards! Why Jewish specifically? Hell if I knew I'd bottle it and bring it to Vegas, or Utah, yeah, Utah could use it.

On this note, I make light of the opium dens of China that were romanticised in literature, when they are in fact, as nasty as a one-legged yak with syphillis and exzema. Also I note American women think Tuscany is this wonderland, when it is basically a run-down version of Oklahoma with more pasta, 20 guys named Paolo all riding a Vespa chasing my girlfriend. They will swear it is just like in the movie, and that I am way offbase.
