    Car Guy's vs. Home Owners:

I received a call from Irvine Company Management this morning asking me to get the word out - they are trying to walk a tight line between the two. They were invited to a Home Owners meeting this week. Just short of being tarred and feathered, I think they earned their money for hazard pay. As a result they will pass out flyers tomorrow, again letting us know the parking lots won't open till 7 am. No lines will be allowed to form on PCH for safety reasons. Of course this will not start for a few weeks. There’s going to be additional rules that come out of this not only for the noise issues, but also for safety and common courtesy. If you can think of any rules you would like to propose, please post them for review and debate. Now's your chance to speak up. HERE IS A FEW TO GET STARTED:

    1. NO SAVING PARKING SPOTS
    2. NO CAR DEALER'S OR VENDORS OF ANY KIND
    3. NO REVVING YOUR MOTOR. (UNLESS IT'S A REALLY *****EN CAR)
    4. NO TWENTY MINUTE PARKING SPOTS (we need to ask for something)
    5. NO HOT CHICKS WITH BED HEAD & LOWER BACK TAT'S :)

Id like to ammend #5 they are allowed to show with bed head and tats if they are still wearing what they slept in, and if its normal PJs then it must be revealing and/or see through

also I dont get the whole thing behind wanting the cars to ALL get there at the same time, if they want to reduce noise wouldnt it make more sense to let people get there when they get there, instead of all waiting somewhere near by and all racing for a spot, I cant think of anything louder than that (or at least it was the times Ive been there and everyone was waiting in the lot somewhere and then when it was time everyone started up and moved to a spot)

and where are people suppose to wait now?

The part about no lineups and no entry before 7am is serious.... it starts September 16th...

I think the Newport Beach Police obtained their ticket quota for September this morning at CC. There were two motorcycle cops and it looks like they needed to call in for reinforcements as a third came. They were almost non-stop giving tickets to people who turned left from PCH (across double yellow lines) into CC.
(You can see the third cop waiting in the background in the first pic.)

We were talking about this earlier. It does sound like some serious planning for a back up is in order.

The next phase of rules whereby you can't line up or enter before 7:00AM does not sound too promising. Sadly, it seems like CC days could be numbered.

I dont know about you guys But I like to sleep in a little on Saturday. Lets meet at Fashion Island on Saturdays after 830. That way those that leave CC early can enjoy the drive up to Fashion Island. JJ

This was a big idea back in early January of this year. People tried it one weekend. The majority of the people who showed up were Porsche owners from 6speed. I support another go at it. I can't believe what a zoo it has become at cc.

FYI, Irvine Co. owns Fashion Island too so it would be the same run around.

4 months ago we did several successful Fashion Island meets. It fizzled out because people continued to go to CC. If there were a larger core group to go to FI then I think it can be a sustained success.

+ They have that tastey eatery, Cafe R&D

CC is off the coast highway and is more a pain in the ass with its lot layout.

    Fasihion Island:
-No neighbors in the immediate area to anger.
    -Plenty of parking.

+ This will throw off some of the non enthusiasts.

Obviously, it's much bigger than CC. Is there a particular section of the FI area that is most appropriate? I'd be willing to go simply to spread out all the people. CC has gotten a little too crowded. Might go back to "normal" after this weekend, but who knows.

    Regards.

I believe that the Robinson's May is closed at that location = might be good to use that parking lot.

I think FI would be good because you pull out onto the circle. I think that more people will just cruise out instead of the tempting launching pad of PCH.

I'm going to skip it again this week. I suggest you all do the same. There's the Saleen factory open house and show on Saturday, which might be an interesting alternative. Might check out the Donut Derelicts at Magnolia and Adams in HB too. I wonder if the cry of the Starbuck's and Pacific Whey operators over their lost business will drown out the residents' cheers. As some have said, Fashion Island makes a lot more sense for some reasons, but isn't as appealing for others. Might be worth having a meeting with the Irvine Co. reps to see what they think about it before making the jump.

If the show is near R&D Cafe, it opens at 08:30 daily and serves BF until 11 am.

Almost next door is Starbucks with some patio seating, not a lot.

There is also a Starbucks in the new Barnes & Noble on the lower level of Atrium Court with more pastries and sandwiches than Starbucks.

On the other side of the Island is CoCo's. Open early but no outdoor seating to watch show.

The question is, would the Irvine Co. isolate a show are with cones?
