Trying to figure out the preferred method to close the trunk. Currently I gently lower it then push on it at the latch points. This seemed like the best way but does flex the hood a bit. Would just dropping it from a reasonable distance put less strain or flex on it??

Can't say for sure about the "best" way, but I just drop my front hatch and it latches cleanly every time.

Drop it because over time, you will have wear marks where you push at the latch points.

One little nudge, from the fully upright position and it drops with a convincing latch. Never had a problem.

    Ah, 348 Science!

I just barely move my front trunk hatch by hand until I can feel that it will first drop on its own, then I just drop it from that point.

That gets it past the shocks/struts that would otherwise hold it upright.

Pretty easy. It's a great feeling to hear that clean "latch" sound as it locks down.

glad I asked, I was setting it down and pushing on it to latch it. It felt wrong and would flex the hood slightly

I drop mine from about a foot or so. Since it is aluminum I do not want to push on it.

See fellas? F355 owners really need to compensate because they know, deep down in their hearts, the brotherhood has the better Ferrari.

In the famous words of one not-to-be-named Fchatter, "dating a stripper is awesome until you come home one night and she grabs a glock and starts shooting holes in your roof for absolutely no reason whatsoever."

At that point you can drop or slam!

I used to do the close and push on the latch, but my mechanic showed me the propert drop method. Push from almost the middle of the hood with no fear, and it closes perfectly. I never liked the flex when trying to push down by the latches either.

That's the same way that you close the bonnet (engine bay cover) on a Series 1-3 Jag.
