I was too impatient to wait for braided line and did not want to run the car with the vapor system not hooked up so I just put some non-braided line on it.

Also, of note, the nipple for the other end of this hose on the fume collector under the passenger side flying buttress is almost impossible to get to. I could not actually see it without a mirror. I wound up using a free hacksaw blade and my fingertips to saw through the clamp to get the hose off. Periodically checking my work with a mirror. Difficulty level 10

I think in the picture I have the little valve thingy upside down. I think it is supposed to provide a little tank pressure so it should be mounted to provide some resistance to vapor leaving the tank. (this is based on extrapolation from the description of the 3-way valve on the earlier cars described in the shop manual)

Never had a chance to post this picture, but back when I was cleaning the carbs I noticed that there were 3 different sizes of 'o' rings on the idle jets. Interesting, because the car came with a recipt showing charges for "rebuilding carbs." Also, note that there were only SEVEN rings present.

The passenger side turn signal has not been working since I got the car and finally I am getting around to sorting this out. Looks like there are 2 problems. The plastic holding the metal socket in place has broken off and the ground wire has come off.

I was going to epoxy the back of the plastic but the epoxy would get into the socket and the spring. A simple fix was to wrap the socket with electrician's tape. Now the socked fits snugly in to the plastic without needing the locking tabs at the back.

A little work with the Dremel wire brush and the soldering gun and I re-attached the ground wire. Cleaned up the lens and housing and re-installed and it works great.

Yes, I did! Could you perhaps post a picture (or the exact specs) of the rivets you used to do that water drain shield on the under side of the engine lid? I'd like to repaint mine as well this winter, but IIRC, my local hardware place had several varieties of 1/8" rivets...

The 1/8" by 1/8" seemed to be a good match for the rear rain guard and the emissions plate.

Why won't it let me post more pictures? Do I need to go back and delete pictures from the beginning of this thread?

Just do a Silver Subscription - $15 for a year, and unlimited photo uploading (as well as other increased perks). I figure, I've saved myself WELL over $15 from the stuff I've learned here (more like THOUSANDS), so the subscription seems only right. I'll go Rossa, eventually, but right now Silver works for me.

PS - you can only edit your posts for 1 hour after they are submitted, then they become "permanent" - unless you have a forum moderator change or delete them.

As the new owner of another chat site, I can tell you that these sites can get quite expensive to run as the volume of stuff piles up on the server. (Like, several hundred bucks a month). Rob pays good money to keep this site up for the benefit of all of us. So I figure that paying a little bit for a subscription is my little way of helping out.

Because the pictures are the thing that really fill the server space, it makes sense to limit the pictures that an unsubscribed user can submit. $15 is cheap money for all the benefits you get for the Silver Subscription.

For some reason my Silver account is not activated or working, so the next few pictures are on www.photobucket.com.

Here is the Airhorn compressor compartment before servicing the compressor:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/airhornpumppre.jpg

Here are the parts after disassembly:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/hornapart.jpg

Notes on the airpump compressor. There are small tabs on the cylinder/body of the motor that are used to line up the two ends. If the magnets are the wrong orientation or the polarity is hooked up wrong, it will run backwards.
The bearing near the comm. and brushes is NOT a ball-bearing and there is no way to externally lubricate this bearing. I placed some molylube on it prior to re-assembly. The o-ring on the lid of the compressor portion was hard and cracked (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/hornpumpo-ring.jpg.) I happen to have a near matching replacement in my drawer of o-rings.

For lubricant I used model airplane engine 'after run' oil as it has a thicker consistency (like the original oil in there) and it is designed to keep aluminum parts corrosion free (and it was sitting on the desk in front of me)

The body of the motor paint was matched closely with Krylon (it is like a olive/light-brown)

Here is the finished pump motor:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/airhohrndone.jpg

    Motor installed:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/airhornpost.jpg

I suspect there is a FIAMM sticker on the top of the horn but I cannot seem to find one at italian car parts. Anyone know if there should be a sticker?

Dude....you are a BEAST! I am loving what you're doing with these picture posts, man. Makes me wanna get outside and get crackin' on my car!

As for the sticker, yes, there is supposed to be one. If you should find one, buy 2, and I'll take the 2nd from you. Mine is in rough shape and is peeling back about 75% of the way off the top. A replacement would be ideal.

Thanks ylshih for posting the pictures!

Here are some more pictures from the leather restoration.

I took the passenger side door off and used the leather rejuvinator:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/2rejuvinatoroil.jpg and then used the pristine clean solution: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/3panelaftercleaner.jpg

I took the side-pocket off and here it is after removing the old dye. I used 400 sandpaper, a toothbrush (to get into the grain) and the supplied prepping solution. I understand that leather with laquer-based dye can be stripped with laquer thinner and I suspect this will be much faster as the toothbrush method was very tedious. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/2armrestready.jpg

Here is the air gun I used (from Sears):http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/1paintgun.jpg

SPRAY GUN SETTINGS: Pressure 50 psi, and dye diluted about 15 to 20% (by guess) with distilled water. Spray needle set so the paint just starts to come out of the gun.

Here is the armrest just after spraying:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/ic-racer/3.jpg

I got a new 'Unleaded Only' plate from ICP, however, it appears to be not that much nicer than the existing one. Also, it seems to be very difficult to take off, so I opted for refinishing the existing one in-situ.

The first picture shows the plate before I started. The blue paint was long gone. I masked the surrounding surfaces and used a nyon brush with the Dremel.

I used some Testors felt-tip enamel. This blue is a little on the light side.
The finished product is not that bad, though, I may put the NOS plate in if I ever have the dash apart.

Got the passenger side door panel finished. The trim strip still needs to be painted. I am very impressed with this dye/treatment system.

Looks great! While removing my passenger side door last week, my trim strip snapped in the middle. Actually, it looks as though the break was old - the glue that they used to repair it gave way. :( I attempted to re-glue, but to no avail.

I've gotta take the panel off again this week, as the window cable is doing something funky. The window still rolls up and down just fine, but when rolled all the way up, a little "arc" of cable pops up between the weatherstripping and the glass which it didn't do before. I'm clueless as to why, but taking it apart again is the first step to figuring it out!

PS - what brand paint did you use for your piece that mounts under the louvers on the engine cover (deck lid)? I tried some Kyrlon high temp paint, and it just doesn't look right. Nowhere near as good as yours... I'm going to sand it down today and attempt to respray with a different kind.
