Well, I don't think so, but the accuracy of the term far outweighs any official naming... well, imho at least.
On the way from Portland to Vancouver, B.C today, saw one red and one green Lotus Elise on I-5 near Seattle downtown, a white 959 converitable (don't know if that one is a replica). Also spotted a grey Carrera GT, a yellow 355 GTB, a yellow Lotus Elise on I -5 last Saturday.
The 959 was most likely a replica. I dont think they were made Convertables. But good spot ethier way.
Just one convertible/speedster 959 made from Ralph Lauren's crashed car about 15 years ago. I believe the car was in Austria 7 years ago and is pearl white with black leather. It's the only one I know of and certainly could be in the States.
Yesterday, 9/4, about 1:30-2:00pm or so. Saw it off of I-90 near the High Point exit, going up the hill to the north. It looked to be in great shape, was clean, sounded good and smelled right.
That black Dino may have been a neighbor of mine. It is rarely out. I spotted it one day and chased him into his garage. We chatted for a while. He's had it for something like 20 years. If that's the one you saw. If it isn't, then never mind....
Lambo SUV from the Italian Concours...just saw that silver LM002 drive by in front of my house a few minutes ago, here in Magnolia.
Sunday, 9/4/2006 about 12:30 PM we were heading West (sort of) in our red 246GTS on the Wilsonville Road (Oregon) towards McMinville (sort of) and in the middle of winding stretch through the trees we saw a bronze/orange (sort of) Lambo heading East (sort of). Looked like it might have been a Murcie - but it happened so fast it could have been a Diablo . . . Mark (also posted on the Portland Spotter's thread)
Enzo westbound I-90 near M.I. around 3 today. Looked like maybe it was the elusive Mr. A. I was headed the other way and I don't think he noticed me...he didn't wave or anything. Nice day for a drive, that's for sure.
Red with black top Mondial Spider heading north on the west valley highway around 4ish today. It didn't have the top down, what's up? : )
that's me! gotta love the looks on people's faces in places like Fremont and Magnolia when they see me driving around in that beast.
Well let me know next time you are in Magnolia...you can pick me up and we can run over to Fort Lawton and challenge those army reservists against one of their humvees!
Parking outside El Gaucho (had the "Baseball cut sirloin" with Roquefort) .. is a definite entry in the spotters' thread.... ;-) Man, why didn't anyone tell me black cars get dirty quick ? Oh that's right -- they did ... lots of times ;-)
You basically have two choices. Take the Black Menace approach, which is wash it as little as possible and drive the crap out of it. Or wash and wax it everytime you drive it and drive the crap out of it which is what I do when its not in the shop. It depends on your personal choices of how you want to spend your time. The in between choice is a default to the Black Menace approach, because even partially dirty, Black Cars look like they are dirty.
