Forte: pertaining to streangth or talent. pronounced 'fOrt' not 'fOrta' i know it's probably pedantic. the pronunciation of 'fOrta' is in reference to a musical note. my personal pet peve.
To pronounce them as "fawr-tey", or "fôrt-tay" is also considered correct. Both the one and two syllable pronunciations are considered standard.
I'm still amazed how many young people (in the US) don't know "Alfa Romeo". Watch guys get angry when you ask "Are you rally homologated?" Let's get egregiously abstruse ...
