Track was resurfaced following last week's testing in which Felipe Massa came out on top. I am not sure I accept the explanation for resurfacing with so little time to cure before use.

    But I am OK with Michelin having problems with the track :}

Maybe that was the reason for resurfacing, lol.

With Ferrari's history of cheating and Monza being in Italy, that could very well be true...

Wouldn't it be ironic if Renault would triumph here? Just like Michael spoiled Renault's party in Magny Cours Alonso might come up on top in Monza. :)

I hope BMW Sauber can pull out a win. Keep that consecutive streak of new winners going!

Do I smell a bit of 'deja vu' there?

Well, are we going to have another Indianapolis 2005 scenario ?
Don't worry, Michelin will refund the tickets!

At least there quite a few Bridgestone shod cars this time...

Actually, I do hope Schumacher wins the race, wins the championship, and then retires so Kimi will drive for Ferrari in 2007.

I would have to agree that would be a great way for MS to leave and for Kimi to drive for Scuderia.

While the Michelin shod cars are deffinately faster on the inters I have heard rumors that the Bridgestones have the advantage on full wets. I may be mistaken, does anyone know?

The rain would also benefit the rain master from Hungary: Alonso

FWIW, at Spa last year, the only teams to get both cars to the finish were Sauber, Jordan, and Minardi -- one Michelin team and two of the three Bridgestone teams -- and Michael was punted off by Sato on Michelins.

Of course, that might only mean that Bridgestone wets work well at low speed. :p

Bridgestone full wets are faster than Michelin full wets. The Michelin intermediate tires appear to have the edge this year if we look to Hungary as an example.

Back in '04, I was at Monza and watched Rubens and Alonso duke it out in the rain. Alonso spun out and Rubens won the race. Michael was closing on Rubens at the very end and he has ZERO trouble driving in the wet.

I can confirm the part of the article concerning the short and powerful rains. The Lesmos curves have a lot of overhang from the trees, which makes for an interesting trip down the back portion of the track. You add this to the fact to the others previously mentioned and that the track marshals will help out the Ferraris all that they can (e.g. push Michael or Felipe out of the kitty litter) and Ferrari has the edge in my opinion.

I'm more excited about the chance of rain for the weekend than I am worried about the tire situation. Hungary was the most exciting race of the year so far, another wet one could easily rank up there with it tho.

Why is it Michelin seems to have problems with tires, and Bridgestone does not ?

Bridgestone seems to have more conservative tires than Michelin. That could explain why the Bridgestones are much heavier than Michelins and don't perform as well in the intermediate.
