Ha Ha - ah the real reason for your running from women .. No Thanks - I bat for (what is) your opposing team (based on your answer).

If this is what you like, then your in luck. According to get real/ ChannelNewsAsia, you can get what you need at Mustafa/Kampong Java if you have $50 (or even less after bargaining) to spend and we are not talking about Tosai here.

Hi Jon, it's really sad to hear that only left a handful of 355s .. i knew there is a silver one with red interior always parked at millenia walk, one red with plate 54, another red spider with plate 700, yellow spider with plate 6663, another red with plate 71 from autobahn and also heard from my friend that his bro-law own a red spider as well... duno by the time when i can finally afford, won't there be any more ? is it true that once exported out, we can't import them back in s'pore again?

    Hi guys..

haven't check the board for a while and came back to a couple of pages of "hors"(almost 1 page), song lyrics, gay innuendos, admitting to being gay, lipstick and pinhole cam and german??? haha always the unexpected :D

Jon, your TR looking great there with the blackouts. what are you replacing the engine cover with? glass or cf? For a car that's over 20 years old, its still looking terrific.

Dude, your passenger wearing seatbelts when that happened?

Just collected my TR & spent the last 3hrs cleaning it & sticking the new enamel shields ;)

    What a stress therapy & I'm left with just 2hrs sleep :(

Yes, new paint job, yellow calipers & clear engine cover, I spent about $750 by making a spare from the original in GRP then cut it & stick a tempered glass with black-out sides, quite cool. I wanted to do the same for my 348 but it's tough due to the design of the cover although Zagato did it eons ago. I'll post new pictures when i'm back. The yellow calipers don't look too good (rears are too small) & i'll detail them. Btw, car's a 1990, 2nd last year of production with upgrades .

Andrew, I've fitted your quick shift gate, please let me know how much I owe you & how I can pay. Thanks!

Eric, running cost is high. Tax & insurance alone will cost you about $8k+/- per year & if your record is no good, the insurance will be very expensive. A basic service will set you back $1k x 2/yr & there's always hiccups on the electronics or mechanical so prep another $5-10k a year on that. Tyres @ 18" are another $2k. Clutch job about $5k/3yrs average while belt job about $7-10k/3yrs. So, go figure yourself. If you're lucky to find a good & trouble free eg, it's quite reliable & they tend to work better when used daily rather than collecting dust...good thing is the value doesn't drop much, means you only lose on maintenance . I didn't lose a single cent on my 348 & I sold it cheap or i'd have probably broke-even after using it for two years. F360s are losing $30-50k/yr excluding running cost. I lost $120k on an E class within just 2.5yrs :(

    Hello 360Eric

Shouldn't that be 355 Eric ? 360 and 355 are v diff cars. Is your interest in 355 based only on price / affordability ? I hope not. If your only chooing 355 because of affordability, then consider an older 360.You might be better off in the long run.

SF made some good points to you, if I may say so. Running costs can be very high for a 355 (transfer fee, fuel, loans, insurance, road tax, tyres and servicing). But if I may suggest some ways to beat it :

    1. fix a budget or plan (know how long you want to own and how much to spend and estimate how much you can get back) and stay with it. My friend had a sensible plan but when it came time to sell, did not. He then had a big loss on his hands.

    2. buy a good car (always have it checked and not just LTA check please)

    3. buy in cash (unless your cash giving better return than loan. If have to borrow, as little as possible),

    4. check around for price and cars - see as many cars as possible b4 buying,

    5. best if have 55% discount off insurance or insure just third party and pray, I did it once and no problems),

    6. frills and mods - avoid frills (for eg number plate S 8 S or ER1T) and mods or too many after buying. Sorry Jon but rims, tyres, engine mods cost $$$ and not everyone has the same taste.

    7. tyres and road tax - renew sensibly.

    8. laying up - some use this to temporarily stop tax and insurance while looking for a buyer - not sure about the rule myself.

9.Last but not least - buy from Hong Seh (if possible) at least you will then get support

Finally, its not enough just to drive one. Be it a 308, Mondial, 348, 512, 355, 360 or a new Ferrari, nothing beats the thrill of owing one. I hope you do it.

Let's see the goods man - awaiting your photos - Yup on E class - just what I have been preaching all along - now wouldn't you have preferred to lose that $120k on a F430 or F599 ? At least its an E class - some guys lose relatively more on Sunnys and Corollas. Come on my friend - enough with the "classics" - let's go for a new(er) car.
