Audi RS4

Wait for the S6.

 

It's tiny inside for a sedan (well, A4-sized), and although it's fast and stable, you don't get this massive *whomp* of acceleration (certainly nothing like the 430, which really surprised me how vicious the acceleration was). Very smooth and linear, not very dramatic.

While there are many things to love about it, I think for the price there are more exciting cars.

 

Drive one though, you may find that it is exactly right for you!

I'm a big guy though, so if I'm getting a sedan I want one that fits me better (and has space for my kids, car seats are huge).

 

I'll tell you this much from my own personal experience. I purchased one of the new S4s when they came out (based off the b5 frame).

The day after I had it, i had to have it flatbedded to the dealership (left me stranded at my girlfriend's mother's house, how horrible that was). Got it back, a week later, flatbedded for the same reason (coil ignition switch housing was melting to the engine).

I think I had that car flatbedded about 4 times in the first 6 months of owning it.

Never again.

Now I know this has nothing to do with the RS4, but I know quite a few audi owners that have experienced the same problems I have, as well as having them bought back by VW/Audi.

I think for the price, there's MUCH better cars to go with.

being at my girlfriend's nagging mother's home, having her tell me that I spent too much money on that "girly pos".

I think i broke up with that girl just because of her mother.

I really like the RS4. Car And Driver and Motor Trend (FWIW) seem to have been impressed with the car. Its a good looking car, fairly fast. Lets put it this way.

Its better looking then the M5
Cheaper then the E63.

Sure there maybe a few bad apples out there. Honestly, I dont think you have much to worry about. Maybe wait a little bit and just see how the actual quality is.

 

Thing is both of those are mid-sized sedans, the A6/S6 is Audi's comparable car. The compact sedan RS4 is more directly comparable to the M3 or C55.

 

I was suprised to read that the C55 is dead as of this year.

 

I've had one for a month or so, it's a pretty neat car. It's reasonably quick. I find it to be roomier inside than you would expect. I like the fact that it's a smaller car, easier to park, etc. The 4wd and relatively (for a sports car) high clearance make it easy to drive. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. The nav interface is easy to use. The fit and finish is great. Seats are comfy (i think they are the same as the previous generation S4) I wouldn't want to ride around in the back but little people are fine back there. I bought it b/c it's fairly stealth, doesn't attract much attention, and still performs well. 99.5% of the roads in Dallas are straight, so I haven't exactly pushed it to it's handling limits.
