Read Your PDF in the thread.. Great story and write-up !, furtunately for the FCHAT DINO, this could be sparred if it ever gets built as a one off concept car
No need to keep asking and lengthen this thread unnecessairily. I'm sure everyone will post their pics as soon as they have any.
Why I'm doing this is because, we keep seeing no sketch generation , we just see finished renderings, that's fine, but we have no idea what inspired those rendering or where they came from. Former head of Lancia Design, used to ask to all of his younger designers 100 sketches a day!!, just 5 min doodles or whatever they wanted to show in a few minutes. This could not be done here, or at the same level, this is not the objective, but a minimum would be interesting to see, and to evaluate details or other parts of the car. This is supposed to be a fun project, and sketches are the most fun to do and quick to post,. If this thread becomes too serious and we loose this type of creativity and the passion for this new project, then the fun factor of bonding with fellow enthusiast alike will dissappear...... Unfortunately sketches in any arts endeavour, will tell how passionate someone is about his subject, and there is no Monica Bellucci or Zeta-Jones that can help if you don't show passion through your sketch work........I'm seeing very little of it, and it's almost becoming a few man show.....and no fun. Rant over! and will not lengthen the thread anymore. Loosen up guys............
I appreciate your endeavours, your huge amount of passion and your many many sketches, but this process is a little bit different from the standard procedures. As you said, it's all about fun, but for me it's also about finding new and interesting ways to create a new design. I agree with you on wanting to see more sketches, but everyone should determine for himself what is the best way to contribute. Your way is to post many sketches with many many interesting details. My way is a bit different and I have my reasons for that. I totally agree and I would love to see more sketches aswell! But again, everyone in it's own way and own frequency. I believe that's the power of this process. No stress, no time limits, no quota, just creativity and passion in any way what so ever. Because you're the one with the most sketches posted, I'd like to hear from you if you see any options for improvement. Remember this is just an experiment. I have my thoughts about a new Dino, but unfortunately not enough time to post sketches every week. I'm still trying to find time to convert all your concepts into quality-equal Photoshop-renderings. I'm very busy at the moment building my own design-agency and finding strategic partners and scouting talent, which is a bit more important right now. It didn't start this way, but now I'm very determined to make our ideas reality! More projects like this will appear in the future. I'd like to invite you when time is right to show your talent. Now I'm in need of 3D artists and engineers to lift this project to a higher level as velocityengineer ascribed.
I agree on the no stress or time or quota limit, this is not work that stresses us daily, but the only thing I can see is, to direct and focus more everyone on certain tasks, I will try to explain myself. 1) I posted the 4 view F430 illustration and you posted the F430 layout drawing. 2) Unfortunately we didn't ask everyone that is producing sketches or designs for the new Dino or 206P, to use those as a reference... 3) It would make it easier for everyone to evaluate a new design if we all used a common playing field( or a Brief) to follow, otherwise we are just sketching away with no deliberate or objective goal. I would love to see what others can come up with the same brief, but we need to focus everyone in the project on a few but firm points. If it's the 360/430, then everyone needs to use those when they present a new sketch, otherwise it just a waste of time, we can continue shooting the breeze for a few years without an end/objective in sight. $) In my humble opinion, the only change I can see is this, everyone needs a few set parameters or brief, supplied by you or others for the common project, we can change things along the way like any other design, but who decides to post will have to use the same illustration, material or whatever, but change it us they best see it fit, design it as they like it, modify it, inprove it, but still on the same brief I don't wan't to push or want to get in the way, this is your personal project, I'm just contributing because I found the project really exciting and liked the idea of sharing experiences/ knowledge with like minded people and enthusiast. Your Design agency is more important then this , so please excuse me for being a little fiery, but sometimes the italian blood shows through our comments, but that is what makes us Italians, sometimes hot headed, but it's just our deep passion that get's in the way of rationality......... We need to keep it at bay sometimes, and you're are doing a very good job at that... I'm alway available to have fun with the right group of people...! Will try to find someone to join in, maybe another hot headed italian...., just kidding..., will see what I can do... I knew you would understand my comments....., and the best of luck with the Design agency.
I have noticed no door line or handel? I know we a sketching still but what about working our way closer to the final "group" idea of what it should look like. So far this last one looks the best
Ahhh Michael, Concave ducts cutting into the side window travel plane. Too close to windoe opening line also. The wheel wells look cool and retro, but are very very bad aerodynamically. The tighter the wheel opening to wheel the better. Where is the door cutline. Keep the ideas flowing, but remember that if the details are impossible it stays only a sketch forever. Cheers Eric
You're absolutely right! Thanks. Still in search of new shapes, because I'm not satisfied about the concepts we have so far. Your comments are very useful.
Sketches A and E look quite nice. Keep them coming! Here are two sketches I took from the PF-site. The rear end is a nice direction for our Dino, only I'd like to try it with the taillights from the 599. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
