Last weekend I had my 328 up to 230 km , I can't go any faster because of traffic or the police. Whats the fastest you got your 328 up to?

Aw heck, I've had my tiny little Alfa that fast! :D

Of course the fancy after-market shift-knob rattled so loudly I couldn't think! But that's another story.... :p

guess I'm a wuss when it comes to top speed. I keep thinking what could happen and the shortened response time.

I've had it up to an "INDICATED" 165 before. About 5-7 minutes down a long strecth of I10. Fellow Fchatter Matt Lamotte was in the car and can confirm. And, NO, I don't really think I was going 165! ;)

I suppose I'm just a wimp, but that A pillar jutting at my left eye sure worries me in the triple digit range. I just don't trust the structural integrity if something goes wrong.

Add to that the "over 100, go to jail" crap the LEOs are tossing at us these days, and I tend to keep it lower.

I did see an indicated 120-130 on a backroad, but I was too busy keeping it on the road to be precise on the speed :)

I had my GT4 to 135 once, but the GPS said I was only doing 123mph. That was before I put the correct diameter wheels on. The old 15" wheels were about 6% off in circumference. I have to say though, got there really easy.

Hit 120+ with the top off... was stuck behind a poky F430 at the time, but I think she could have hit 140+ without much problem.

With the 328, I wonder more about braking capability than I do top speed or stability (the car really felt planted and reassuring at 120). Speed is exciting, but you want to have the hardware to pull you down so you can live to tell about it.

I think contemporary magazine tests had the 328 around 150mph. Here's the R&T 1986 intro test data.

EDIT: BTW, there are many posts here about how refined the 328 is compared to the 308, but the dBA readings don't confirm that.

Thanks for posting that and wow, those are some really horrible numbers by modern standards... and makes me realize how much the improvements have done to better the 308 here. BTW, have had to car upwards of 140mph (gps confirmed) during a downhill. At Watkins Glen during the long straight i am lucky to get her to 115 or 120 mph. It appears once i shift to 5th at around 100mph the climb upward is slow as molasses :(

I had my old 328 up to 135 felt very stable, the 355 is barely breathing at that speed but didn't take it faster, didn't really notice a big difference with the ground effects/diffusers in the 355 maybe I wasn't going fast enough.

They are awful: .83g on the skidpad and 154-foot stops (!!) from 60mph, and the stock 308 is even worse.

The car feels and sounds so great, though, that you don't realize how yester-tech it is until you see the old test results. I would guess a Honda Civic would beat a 328 around the corners now.

Great clip! Just noticed you were stuck behind a 430 as well. What's with these guys? It's like having the UPS truck in front of you... ;)

I haven't read the other responses to your question. However, I have an Automobile Magazine issue from 1989 with the 328 in it. They have a listed top speed of 155 mph, and a 0-60 time of 6.6 seconds.

Well, maybe a STOCK 308 is worse, but some of us modded our cars for the track :)

My old Honda Del Sol VTEC SI was better than the 308 before i i modded her.

Well, the LONG version of that clip is 182MB and 16:49 long. In it i pass a Lotus, a BMW, a Testarossa, a race-prepped 355, a Honda S2000... but to be fair i know the track and what settings work well at the Glen on my custom suspension (which is VERY adjustable).

Most important of all, am still with the White/Green group (beginners with instructors and touch more experienced drivers). Perhaps next year i need to be bumped up to the Blue group. The Blue guys go faster (and the Red run group faster still). Have done 2:24 at the Glen in warm/dry conditions using R-compound tires (Mich Pilot Cups).

This video is from last weekend where i used Mich Pilot Sport PS2 that were 1/2 worn and the track was touch and go due to rain and some oil in a certain spot while other spots seemed to have grip one lap and less grip the next. Out of about 50 cars an insane total of 12 or so had single-car incidences :( It was a VERY BAD weekend at the Glen for a few guys and 2 days before this driving run in the video myself also had an incident entering the boot due to oil left the day before from the BMW group. Fortunately all my car suffered was paint scrape like someone deeply keyed the passenger side once.
