Okay, I should probably keep my mouth shut, but I don't want to waist my time and money to travel up there, just to be turned away because I have a camera.

Yesterday before this thread was even created I called Lamborghini of Dallas and asked them if it would be okay if I attended and took some photos. They told me that I had to call MSR and get permission directly from them and that's what I did. I called MSR and talked to a Kurt (or Kirk, not sure) and I told him who I was and what I plan on doing with the photos. He said it's fine if I take some photos for my personal use and to share with the Ferrari Club.

Knowing the way my life works, I'll probably drive up there, find out Kurt is a corner worker with no authority and be turned away.

Kurt works in the office and has for many years so you are safe ;) I don't know the reasoning behind the listing of no cameras (probably some legal eagle suggested it) but I have been to the last two events and attended numerous others at MSR with a camera in tow every time.

ok fine. The answer is easy. The legal eagles want to insure that no one is shooting for profit. If you want to bring your camera for personal use that is fine but legally they had to put that OR a general release that each attendee would have to sign saying they are not bla blah blah. Hey you guys who are planning on attending bring your cameras but only I will be shooting "Professionally"

My shots will be available via the track and concorso website

Okay, that's what I figured. So I shouldn't have any problems walking around with my D50? People who don't know any better think that I'm a pro photographer because they think my camera looks like a pro one. Little do they know I rarely ever take it off of auto.

Jim, I'd really like to meet you while I'm there if you aren't too busy.

    I'll be there with Silver!

One of the Pro photographers there last year was kind enough to take a picture of me with my car and sent it to me. It came out great and is one of my favorite photos. It's really really hard to take a picture of yourself with your car by yourself. <G>

I'm looking forward to this year's event. Last year was lots of fun - the different foods, all the people, all the cars, the rides around the track. It was great!

    Very obscure excuses by me.

    1. The staff was afraid of those little magic boxes stealing their souls.

    2. Drivers, crew, & event promoters are now controlled by audioanimatronics. Any flash photography will result in shutting down operations just like the Country Bears Jamboree show at Disneyland.

DJ, Larry and all the other members of our FTW MBCA deserve a great big thanks for taking on the responsibility of the Show 'n Shine. Ya'll are great!

We enjoyed it last year taking the Ferrari and SLK350 out on the track, talk about two totally different cars! Unfortunately we will miss it this time due to a conflict with the Petit Le Mans 10 hour race in Atlanta.
