Cool.. same for the Enzo, right? seems like a bunch of first time buyers.. any reason for the increased number of buyers? is it they are exotic car owners who switch to ferrari, more having increased spending power or the price of the F430 which is more competitive compared to, say, a 360?

Lower barriers ? How ? car is just as expensive and loans more so now - insurance has gone up - At most F430 maybe 50k cheaper - that is not likely to make a diff if your buying a 700+k car and you'd have to be a good customer of theirs to get such a special price - not for first time buyers

lower COE ? do they raise / lower Ferrari prices based on COE like sunnys ? do Ferrari owners buy based on COE price ? - do you ?

more awareness ? since what 1970 ? Surely awareness of Ferrari bet 2004 to 2006 is about the same

more affluence - yes - I'd agree but how much more ? - car price has not really lowered.

I think main (and obvious) reason - F 430 is a newer (and better) car than a Lambo Gallardo and any new porsche.

360 is a bastard son of mondial ? how so ? 4 seats compared to 2 - diff construction - diff engine - diff gearbox - no pop up lights

360 was start of new line and father of 430 - more like relative of mondial - son of mondial ? Try 348 and 355 and 412 (same pop up lights)

 

Nice photos - but I thought you criticised SF for options which you have said are useless and also I thought you had views about people trying to sell cars though this site ? Hmm ...

I think the availability of mass media could also attribute to more widespread knowledge that the F430 is a better car. TV shows such as Top Gear said the F430 was "epic" and such shows are available on cable channel and if missed the episode could still get it off the net. seeing jeremy clarkson trying hard to find fault with the F430 was hilarious.

Under my skin, Ha Ha ..you've misunderstood - that was only friendly banter with kdk (at least from my end) ..

Mass media - yes - that must be a factor too - HS salesman were giving out the TG videos in question - but I suspect not much - I don't get the impression most of the buyers watch these programs

I thought kdk was right in saying that people now more willing to spend - I think that is the biggest factor plus the 430 looks really really good

(sad to say) the average rich nowadays will not consider a porsche a sufficient status symbol - that's sad as 911 never looked better IMHO and reasonably priced

F 430 was also reviewed by Fifth Gear's Jason Plato who rated it the best new Ferrari - This was before the release of the 599 but recently, Fifth Gear's Tiff Needle reviewed 599 and rated F430 as the better car - but like kdk, I'd love a 599 for sure over a 430.

I also get the impression that there is an overall Lambo / Ferrari backlash - I must say those Ferrari built Masers look better and better every day - so tempted by pearl or MC blue GS or a navy 3200 (for the back lights).....

 

good morning guys...yesterday was really a exotic spotting day.. last exotic was a blue Gallardo SGM 12 seen at the ESSO steven rd... quite a unique color...This is the only petrol kiosk where i seen the most Ferraris n lambo...other than millenia walk. Awesome... Blue is my favourite Gallardo colour and I've been dying to see one of those here in Singapore. But if there's less than 3 here then i think the chances are pretty low

 

hehe.. sorry must have read it another way.. both of you like the 599.. specs-wise, some improvements over the 430 but the styling for me is abit conservative but if i saw it in the flesh, may have a better opinion.

saw the 430 scene from the miami vice movie(on youtube) and really made me wanna get a 430 and drive it like it was meant to be driven

Well when you read mags and watch TG or 5th Gear take everything with a huge does of salt...these are motor journalists who are imparting their personal opinions which are usually manifestations of their own likes and dislikes. Plus there are politics involved too....of course they would like to be on good side of some manufacturers. Remember opinions from anyone in the car trade or related are always biased. My best advice. Experience is yourself to seperate the truth from the fluff. British mags are notoriously eloquent when it comes to hyping about british cars too. Saw the same DB9...again its really sounds like crap, still looks like crap save for the doors...

Current favourites of UK mags like "Car" and several others are M5, Ferraris, Lambos, WRXs, Porsches, Evos, etc, all non Brit. In fact, they have no hesitation trashing British cars that do not meet the mark like the Jaguar X type and the older Jaguar range and Astons.

Also are US and Japanese Mags any more "objective" ?

Thirdly why is reading someone's else advice less acceptable than reading yours qua "...My best advice ?"

Finally, the only possible riposte to:

has got to be :

If you can get a hold of the BMW movies - watch the one where Madonna is in called "star" directed by Guy Ritchie - Clive Owen drives the sheet out of a M5 - Thought Initial D was good ? - Think again - watch the scene in "Star" where Guy power slides the M5 and lets the steering correct itself - hands free !!! ... fantastic ...

and of course "rendezvous" - the all time must watch (a fair opinion I hope).

hey just wondering..i saw this gallardo spyder a few weeks back..it was in a rare colour! its SKY BLUE!(light blue) tot it was really rare just wanna share..btw how many gallardo spyders are there now in sg?
