Real shame - I lived in Sydney during his last few seasons of the V8's and saw Brockie run Bathurst, etc. Quality bloke.

    RIP Brockie.

I wonder if Ms Greer is going to crawl out of a septic tank again?

yeah it'll be some crap like

"peter brock deserved to die, because he burnt more than his fair share of petrol over his lifetime, and the environment (the tree) was seeking out its revenge"

some people really need to get a life.

Speedcore - I think you need to know more about the location and the circumstances before you make any sweeping generalisations. The road is well known and signposted, people need to drive according to the circumstances. Track racing is fine and great fun, tarmac rallying is a quite different set of challenges as Scud or anyone else can probably tell you. Both provide thrills and adrenalin, but in different ways. Brock was enjoying him and doing what he loved. I'm sure he wouldn't want to die forgotten in a nursing home at age 95 being fed, washed and changed by a nurse...would you?

got a tex from Mick Hone said he was ok,apart from cracked hip ect as above Mate Ray spoke to him at length and he sounded ok,just saidcar slid PB corrected and hit loose gravel and then tree.Said he new straight away that Peter was dead. From what I understand Peter:s body took much of the impact, said he was in a mess.So sad, gee just a week ago he:s at Goodwood racing with his 1st HRT spanner Ian Tate.Mick said to ray that Peter was fresh from the UK flight,as he had 2 days sleep since arriving back home, said it was just one of those things that happen.

Well I headed out to Chittering (Sh!ttering?) to watch some targa action this morning, not a big crowd there.

Unfortunately the White's Gallardo had crashed earlier so I didn't get to see it in action. :(

Here is a shot of our man Andrew Stevens and one front-runner Tony Quinn in the 997TT. For the record, a "Jap-crap" car won..... :)

mitsubishi lancer 1st , blackie in the 996 turbo 2nd , quinn 3rd . i am sharing some of the same crew with blackie and his brother in targa NZ . they are pretty quick and looks like a good prep for targa NZ . thought quinn would do better but i assume he is running stock suspension gear as Bilstein etc haven't done new shocks etc as they can't get their hands on a 997 turbo yet , so the late mail says . i expect he will be quicker for buller in november and maybe didn't want to stick it in first time out :D . those white boys must be racking up some big repair bills on that lambo , giving the spare parts boys at lambo a great year for profits :D
EDIT : wasn't whites gallardo , it was kevin weeks , the one that caught fire in targa tassie

i'm sure it's a great shot but i'd like to think we are all like that during the event . saw some in-car of brockie and understand the comment . the nav seems relaxed which is a good sign of a good nav who trusts the driver

Mick got my Bimota SB6 working after lots of people had tried and failed to get it to run right. He fitted a really nice titanium exhaust to it as well. Seemed like a very nice guy and really knew his stuff as well.
FWIW the next owner of the Bimota absolutely totalled it at the Island- huge endo at the hayshed and rolled it up into a little ball.
