Only if it hadn't been driven dangerously, the car was registered and had plates on it, the driver had a licence and the car was insured!!!!!!

He got pulled over for the lane change. Hello! Anyone driving a CHROME SILVER MURCIELAGO SPYDER in Manhattan with no title, tags, registration, insurance or even a driver's license and then jumps around lanes is just asking for trouble - those are what he got taken in for. But it's not like he was held for days or months, they took him in until a friend came to drive him home.

Uhh huh, maybe just maybe you "got attitude" because you didn’t respect the Police's authority.... it doesn’t matter that they only make $34k a year, they do have a difficult job to perform and are there to enforce the laws passed by your democratically elected government and as such deserve to be treated with respect.......... driving an expensive car doesn’t mean your entitled to be rude to people and are above the law

Trying to talk down to a police officer or as $0.50 did ignore them and keep talking on the phone is going to annoy the police as it’s massively disrespectful not only to them as individuals but also to the office they hold and the law's they try to enforce.... Telling them they should have tried harder at school so they could earn more is not only rude but also says more about your short comings as an adult

If you ever need to call 911 in an emergency see how quick a response you get if you ask to be put through to the "piggley wigglies" ;)

My mother's husband is a sherriff's deputy. He is a nice man and a good cop. Not all cops are bad, but I have run into some pigs in my time. I didn't say anything to the cop when he started giving me attitude. That is not part of his job description.

License, reg. and insurance. Here is your ticket..goodbye. Thats all he needs to say. So hell yes, I gave him attitude back. Just because you get a gun and uniform doesn't make you a good person or means you deserve any respect.

Respect doesn't come from earning lots of money or from carrying a gun. It comes from being a good person. This cop had a chip on his shoulder. I'm not going to put up with that garbage. He didn't like the fact I'm young, in college and drive a nice car; and he made this clear. That is not a man that gets my respect. I did nothing to him until then.

Next law enforcement officer's or supporters want a raise or more funding, remember who pays thier salary. ;)

I'm sure 50 is laughing at this right now. This has only given him more valuable publicity and respect amongst his fans. Good going NYPD. Now he will be living that much better than the goons who arrested him.

And if they didn't respond promptley and something happened to me, I could very easily sue them for criminal neglect and dereliction of duty and clean up.

Anyone remember that shoot out in LA with the people wearing body armor brandishing automatic weapons. The police downed the one surviving gunman. The police did not promptley get him to the hospital. He died of blood loss. The family of the dead criminal sued the police and bankrupted I don't know how many LAPD officers. They litterally wiped out their savings and college funds. I'm not saying that case was right, I'm just saying, it can be done. Still I would not call a cop a pig unless I saw clear evidence that he was one.

Andrew, you're showing yourself to be a modern person who wants to give away his autonomy and let others take care of you and tell how to do this and that...... CS is correct about respect being earned not taken or expected.

I would really like to know your thoughts on the Queen and the whole concept of ROYALTY. Do the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha's, i mean Windsors, deserve special treatment for being born?

Cops are public servants and it is they who should respect the citizens they interact with, there are more than enough candidates to fill those jobs if it proves too difficult to do with courtesy and thought for some.

I think law doesn't require you to carry insurance - it requires you to have a proof that you can cover a damage you can cause - so probably bank statement with 1M$ balance is enough.

Actually, you are wrong. The University of Florida has it's own full-time police force and my tuition pays for it. And my scholarships and that I earned pay my tuition.

    Good points.. BUT

    1. Any cop opens my car door, esp my $350k Lambo, I'm gonna be pissed
    2. Why the hell do cops surround the car and start unholstering their pistols???
    3. 50 seemed to act exactly as he should. No fast movement, got out of the car even though you dont have to by law if "asked".

Bottom line, he should have been given ticket, maybe car towed. Officer should not have driven the car to a safe location, and should not have been arrested at near gunpoint with cuffs on! Complete BS, regardless of who he is.

I've watched where UA drops of customer cars in situations like this: no papers seem to be exchanged, and no tags. If anything I would be pissed at Will if I were 50.

This explains my point a little better.......you may have earnt your scholarship but you don't pay the police forces wages, the organisations \ people who donated their money to your scholarship fund do ;) either way a little respect for other people irrespective of their own problems is always a good thing

    Thanks for the donut :)

He didn't have his license or registration. I had a cop tell me in Texas the other day that he arrests people not carrying their license when driving. That's kinda standard for many places.

...because 50 did so well in HS himself, and went to a prestigious institution of higher learning. RIGHT.

So what are you going to say when my friend who was in the LAPD, working sh*t patrol for idealistic reasons, informs you that he went to Berkeley (not to mention his family is quite wealthy)? Coming from your school, you really are in no position to be snobby.

There are license checkpoints in LA sometimes, similar to DUI checkpoints. No license, you get to go downtown.

I remember it. Maybe your memories are a little hazy of the incident.

The North Hollywood Bank Robbery and shoot out ended with both suspects dead. Larry Phillips died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head (a LAPD round severed his spine before his body hit the ground however) and Emil Matasareanu exsanguinated due to the fact that one of his subclavian arteries was severed from a bullet that slipped under his body armor.

The Matasareanu family did sue the LAPD and named two of the arresting officers in the case. The case ended in a hung jury afterwich the Matasareanu family dropped the case.

If I were on the jury I would have voted to throw the case out and have the plaintiff pay the cost of the defense.

I don't look down on all cops, just the ones too stupid or immature to have that kind of power. I have a cop in my family I am fond of. Read some of my prior posts.

We clearly need more people like your friend on the force. More idealists and fewer bouncers that want more authority.

No doubt, it's easy to pull the race card. My understanding was that 50 made an unsafe lane change, and that is why he was pulled over.

Some people are just making a mountain out of a mole hill :)

Hmmm seems that the Police were just being pricks.

    -----

50 Cent has claimed that his arrest last week was a result of a police misunderstanding.

The rapper (real name Curtis Jackson) was led off in handcuffs by the authorities in front of a crowd of fans on Friday. The police insist the star made an illegal lane change, but witness reports claim Jackson had already pulled over to talk on his phone.

One witness told the New York Post: "He got off the phone when people started surrounding him and he waved to the crowd and said, 'Hey, what's up people?'" Seconds later a black unmarked police car came from behind him and cops began surrounding him."

The police were insistent that the rapper was driving illegally, with one officer telling the same publication: "(He) was being an a**hole, speeding or some s**t. They stopped him and he wouldn't give up his licence. He kept saying, 'You know who I am. I know you know who I am.' So they had to lock him up."
