Speaking of old cars, the Miuras have increased almost twofold in the last 18months. A nice SV is easily transacting @ US$600000 now while it was just US$2~300K 2yrs back. I'm seriously thinking to quickly find & buy a nice Countach then cocoon it, prices are rising as well. Hey Pistole, let me get my 911 sorted out & I'll join you soon. Lung, it'll be nice to have that brake light there but we'll need to wire it up & find a light that fits perfectly, too much work as I figured. It's made in fibre glass & could be Kevlar or carbon fibre. There is a new-old-stock US style cover (with the opening) available for US$995 which will make the project easier but I figure the shipping & light will add a few hundreds more. Now I'm thinking if I should modernise the interior as it is in near mint as it is.

Dear SF, Get in line bro - I have always wanted a countach Tyres - can I ask instead for everyone's views on the "reverse" question - rather than the most expensive or technically the best tyres possible - which brand / type would you say is the best price / specs compromise for say everyday road use / sometimes track use - for say: Front - 215/45zr18 89y Rear - 275/40zr18 99y Tyre size: Front - 215/45 Rear - 275/40 Speed rating: z Rim size: 18 Load rating: Front - 89y Rear - 99y And KDK, if have any fair views on the tyres, I would welcome your views as well.

Maybe importing it to Malaysia so we can use it over the weekends or evenings; if you're that nut over it. I hear it's a difficult car to drive even for an experienced driver but it's an icon & not something anybody would track it even when it was new. I haven't had the experience or luxury to try different set of tyres @ once (how many of us get to test different wheels on track within a day or two?). Recent memories have only tried CSC2, Eagle F1, ADvan Sport, Dunlop Sport9000, Pzero Rosso & only tracked once with the last. I can only rely on readings from test reports & I'm intriqued to find that different Psi alone can make huge difference while some can help counter over/understeer. I can only say Yokohamas are good bargain for street use & easier to find sizes, stocks & young production(just few months old!). Most of those European makes cost 30-50% more & tough to find sizes for 18" & above while they're also usually older. Tyre shops claim the shelf life is 5yrs! Some owners swear to change every 3yrs regardless of wear while some do it in one year! I give & take 3-4yrs from tyre production date. My CSC2 was sticky & performed well in dry & wet but didn't last me more than 30K km. I find them a little noisey. I'd like to try Pilot Sport 2 or SO3, maybe even some Japanese/Korean?

i think they reorganized the engine bay after mechanics are demanding a fortune to work on these engines i'm going to have nightmares myself after seeing the first engine bay. there's no boot space on the countach? I just had my share of tire woes today, but turned out quite well. My SO2-A had a nail go thru tire and I had zero pressure. However the sidewalls were strong enough to support my car depsite being flat. The country is out of that size (265/35/18) I am usually happy with bridgestone but I am quite wary now as Yokohamas seem to stock more tires locally, Michelin PS2s are my current favr as I used them on my GT3, 5 series touring and plan on using them again for my GTR.. For R compounds Yokohamas are the best as they always have ready stock. even in my 265/35/18 size Michelin is second, but have to order or indent ... alittle annoying
I dont like patched tires..junked it and waiting for new stock. I have 5 sets of spare wheels/tires..so I just threw on another set..

I heard from a fan salesman that hor Michelin sold on the general market hor are not current year compound hor, most likely 05. Well unless u know people hor at the factory hor then u might just get a small quantity of 06 compunds AFTER u sign a long legal BS. But they are good really good...even better then Pirelli slicks...which by the way hor I know where to get hahahahah
hi. by right , the adjustment of tyre pressure (and suspension settings) are done in order to attain an even build up of heat on the tyre. but , for road cars going onto track , you can actually use tyre pressure settings to try to dail in/out understeer/oversteer. Since (up to an extent), lower pressures mean more grip and vice versa. the danger though , is that if you drop too much pressure in your quest for grip , your sidewalls will start rolling. You'll know when you don't know what brand your tyres are anymore (hahahah). Tyre sidewalls + road = bad. i've personally ran PZeros,AD07s,R888s and now Silverstone tarmac-slicks and track alot. I have to say that once you begin to stray into R-compound tyres , pressures are no longer so important. Just pump them up to the correct track-pressures and just enjoy the grip. if you are playing with road tyres on track , then pressures are more relevant. Too little , and you get more grip , but more problems like heat buildup which will total your tyres very shortly. cheers. .
dirt cheap = bad news Some people flock to the shop whenever they hear "discount" - there are reasons for that discount - some are genuine sales but it can mean stale tyres which are of course very dangerous - I was also offered such tyres by autobacs for a good price but that was sometime back - I suspect they might be the same batch .. might still be good but check sometime back there was a story in the news on an Ah Beng whose new 18 inchers burst because he bought them at a discount - they were stale - he was at high speed at the time .. could not remember if he survived. others here might have views on how to check for freshness - I go to an old family friend to buy
