Per electronic Autosport, Kimi Raikkonen will have to wait until his McLaren contract expires December 31, before he can test with Ferrari. Ron Dennis has not been shy about refusing to let Kimi out of his contract early to go to a competitor.

So looks like Kimi gets a really long vacation after Brazil. Certainly McLaren will not let him test their 2007 chassis.

Our south Florida club is having its holiday dinner December 7, so Kimi you are invited. Drinks are on us.

Same deal as Montoya and he's not going to a competitor.
"Thanks for the memories. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. By the way, you're under contract for three more months, so no testing in your new venture. Good luck." Ron Dennis

I honestly can't blame him for exercising that option. Kimi will be FA's main title threat next year.

Honda did the same thing to Valentino Rossi when he went to Yamaha; Rossi said that fired him up even more to beat Honda which he did.

    Hope it works for Kimi.....

    Bad news.

The designers at Ferrari are already nervous because they loose the proven capacity of MS as a test driver for a new car. Now they can't even have Kimi before the year is out. Darn.

Makes me wonder whether Ferrari could hire MS as a "consultant" in Fiorano?

well, this thing is pretty normal. remember Ferrari/Honda/Rubens? Ferrari made Rubens wait till end of the year before letting rubens off to honda. i'm just wondering now, does the same thing applies to FA and Mclaren? will Renault let him off early? i certainly hope not. he'll get an upperhand should Renault let him off early.
