Thanks for the views - kind of you to share - if the nail had gone through sidewall then cannot save - so it was lucky. Sometimes, people leave the nail in on purpose because it stops the tyre tube from deflating but I think its inadvisable. Have you tried Maxxis ? They seem pretty good but have to indent for special sizes

Ferrari Club should try to bring down price for members - new and older Ferraris all need tyres - can't there be some bulk buying through the club direct from manufacturers (by passing the local middlemen even?) - same goes for brakes and other common parts (as SF pointed out, just buy from brembo) - or the club can arrange a special price with one of the local retailers ? I am sure HS can help make these arrangements after being in the business for so long.

Nice if club could look into these issues and not just dinners and meet ups (drives are of course great). Its one thing to be able to afford a Ferrari but no one likes to be slaughtered by the tyre or other shop everytime they drive up in one.

Best idea for the month! Since a group of us usually visit those few shops, maybe someone from the committee can help owners hook up special deals on grooming, accessories, tyres etc maybe even lifestyle products such as golf, movie premier, entertainment etc.

I'm sure some establishments will like to associate with the Club then with the extra perks, maybe it'll attract owners to keep the membership. As they say, members have their privileges. Absolut, you dialing in?

As for tyres, due to low sales figures on those unique sizes, I think it'll be best if we can work out a deal with a couple or one dealer who'll keep fresh stocks for us. Most owners only have a set of wheel & imagine when you have to special airfreight a set or one rubber? I last checked & it costs S$500+/- just to air-freight one tyre. Of course the owners have more than just one car but I guess most Maserati owners drive theirs daily. I pity those Lambo owners who have 300+ on the rears, Hurry tyre has them but I bet they're few years old.

I blew my 18" on NS recently & a heavy rain that followed didn't help, those tyres are more than twice the price in KL & a huge hassle to replace. Either you get a flatbed out & bring the car back to Singapore (few hundreds to thousands depending on where you are. I read it cost an owner $5K to tow his car back from a Phuket trip) or pay few hundreds to get someone to bring the tyre to you via Singapore (get taxed heavily @ Malaysia customs because it's rubber, they encourage local product sales) or KL & if it's a weekend. God bless!

I heard a 355 owner once had his tyre cut deliberately & had to leave the car in Melaka over the weekend before going back with a spare to change.

On grooming, many of us still don't exactly have a trusted guy/shop & I'm sure owners will love to have doorstep service & paying that little extra. Don't we?

Tyre pressures adjustments are for minor tweaking of grip based on heat levels in tyres. You should not vary more than a pound or two up or down from the ideal level. That said, the heat build up at track speeds/usage is MUCH higher than even highway use, so starting pressures are much lower. On my race car, we run my road style wet tyres at 25lbs cold pressure for a cooler track and end up with over 30lbs even in cold track/wet track conditions (note this is in a much lighter car 600kgs than a Ferrrari heat build up is less than Ferrari). Slick tyres for dry tracks are even lower, starting at around 20lbs or lower to heat up to 25lbs for max grip - though this will vary based on track temp, driving style and weight of car.

Re slicks - steer clear of Silverstone. They are cheap and do not come anywhere near the grip levels of proper race tyres such as Dunlop Racing or Hoosiers. Try those and you will really know what "on rails" feels like.

Thanks for the interest, nonetheless. i will get them asap.

FF, that's for his monster Nissan GTR. He's got a rare RHD 993RS & a few others ;)

I'm a little confused when it comes to tyre pressures, sometimes & some gas station doesn't have meters for bar. There's PSI, Kpa & bar. I'm not sure if the new Fcars/Maserati uses Bar or PSI in their manual. But my 348/Tr uses Bar. 2.8 for the rear & 2.6 for the front. I think 1bar=14.5psi?

I understand Porsche 996 uses 44psi for the rears & I've seen some tyres with a limit to 45psi.

I found this=SI unit for pressure is Pascal (Pa), PSI is emprical unit.

    yo Jon,

    1 bar = 100 kpa

my brain still works in kpa.

so I have trouble with psi.

all gas stations would have pump which read in kpa or psi.

    cheers.

Not sure if anyone sees it or bothers to read it, but the posts by KDK and his/her multiple personalities are getting boring.....

KDK, or any other online name that you have now chosen, if you are still coming to this site, good luck in your life. You seem like a really angry thing. You're right that you wouldn't care about what we think, so we should not have encouraged you by responding to you. THAT was a WASTE of time.

You may well choose to respond to this by registering under another online name, but I will take any post (or anything similar in grossness and childishness) from you as a fly on the windscreen.

Regardless of what you say, I urge all chatters here to ignore you as well, so that none of your multiple personalities may be encouraged in one way or another.

And thanks to you, KDK, I shall throw away that old, decrepit KDK fan I have at home, and get me a new one :) It probably wouldn't give me any crap, this new non-KDK branded fan....

It didnt go through the sidewall. I dont like patched tires so I am going to wait for new tires. I am guilty of high speed trips on a daily basis..thus I dont like to muck around with tires.

so .. bought your discount tyres ? I guess not - crawl all the way to loyang just for free coffee ? - go to tyre shop to drink coffee (so cheap) and then complain bad - what ? you expect starbucks at autobacs - Ha ! what a joke - go to gas station to bath too I guess

if so chum just ask "Mel" for a buck la - he should give you something for sweeping his floors and licking his boots - its truly incredible that every single attempt to impress us with your "knowledge" is pathetic - can't even get one right -

apart from making these crude comments what else are you good for ? - can't even put a decent argument together - did you even pass primary 6 ? how to make money like that ?

frankly all my best material for whacking you comes from you - didn't you realise that bodoh ...

Guys did u all watched what Eric reccommended? I had it recorded, now we know who's the one who bought both 328s in Targa & Coupe then had them restored, Hapli did the interior. Fine taste the man has & I still have a 10+yrs old magazine that featured his old home which used to have a Silver 190SL! Well, I recognized his Fendi sofa! Now that is truly finer lifestyle. Oh & now he also have a 190E in the background which might be a Cosworth version hmmmm
