I saw it too... His 328s interior was restored almost like what some of you guys did to your interior. Very nice! I know there's another 328GTB and 328GTS around. I like the part when Dick Lee asked him to show us what is really call a Ferrari!! Oh my...the engine sound..

I see a man fulfilling his childhood dream & possibly thinking they are investment. But his 2500m Panerai definitely ain't the only two around.

Could not help noticing the cash register kaching each time he showed something "this is $7,000" "this is $3,000" and so on which was guite funny. However, when it got to the Ferraris, I was disappointed that there were no ka ching prices. I was interested to see what he would value the cars for. According to a local car selling website, 328 gtb is on offer for SGD 98K. Anyway opening credits showed a yellow 360 so stay tuned I guess.

Saw it as well.. I think there's no kaching prices for the Ferraris because the owner did not buy it in that condition and was restored so two different prices and not to mislead.

So anyone here going to be featured on this show? :D maybe Lung with his F430 and expensive watches?

I do not have first hand experience of the Silverstones as I use UK made Dunlop Racing medium compound slicks which are great.

However, many of the guys I race with at Sepang have tested these as a cheaper alternative to importing every set of race tyres from either the UK, US or Australia and have all felt that they provide MUCH less grip than the Michelins, Dunlops or Hoosier racing slicks they were importing.

As such, the only guys in our Classic Car racing still using Silverstones (except those whose class requires it) are the Malaysian, mostly because importing tyres there is a nightmare.

The sizes most use are for between 14" and 18" rims with varying widths from 8" to 11". On a range of cars including Mustangs, TVR's, Lotus 7s and some smaller Japanese cars. Look at the Petronas boys - they have the chooice and choose Michelins.

If you are not racing, Silverstones are more than OK, but when tenths of a second count, they are not really up to the imported varieties. Slicks on the track, even the worst ones once up to temperature, will feel much better than even the best road tyres.

They also add a huge amount of extra load and wear to the suspension, brakes, clutch, drivetrain, so unless you have deep pockets and are really into bettering your times, you are probably better off, going a fraction slower around the corners and learning how to manage the car with a bit of sliding.

    FF !!

    I'm glad I asked you cause I've got a 1969 Mini 850 which I was planning to
    convert to track-use.

    any pointers ?

I rebuilt the engine before (in my younger and more foolish days) but its
been languishing in my parent's home for quite a while since then. Still using
the single SU and rubber-donut suspension. Aluminium Dunlop 10 inch rims.

    any advice welcome !!

    thanks.

Oh boy you had me for a moment, that is the same 308 that's for sale for months, a totally different car compared to what Roy has under wrap. Someone did have a look @ this 308 & told me it needs quite a fair bit of work. http://www.autoincsports.com/ferrarimaserati/Ferrari308GTBQV/360MYLW.htm

As for the black F308 (not sure if that's a targa/coupe) @ Upp Thomson, it belongs to my friend who gave up after rebuilding it & I think he clocked less than 100km in that. Took almost 3yrs to finish the project, glad I didn't buy that then but it was quite cheap. It has a new recent COE, new paint by Long & new tan interior by Hapli. Did a belt job & extras but I'm sure it needs some proper attention again to make it a daily car. Asking S$120K.

For an update, the 328s were sold for no less than S$160K; maybe even S$175K. I was offered #87 GTB for much less & a new belt job but the deal was 2months earlier than what I could afford then. :(

I don't mind finding an early 308 carb in poor condition for cheap then lay it off to rebuild. It sounds great, when the carbs open up, it's simply wonderful, you cannot replicate that now.

Sorry - see wrong - Thomson 308 is coupe (if GTS may be mine by now) anyway less than 120k now - maybe less than 100k - quite nice but black colour hides shape - inside is very nice though if buy will re-paint red - heard of Rosso Cordobra ?

So much for 328 ? I think go for 355 GTS better if like GTS but have to admit, 308/328 shape is much nicer than 355. Anyway, for 355 I would go for manual GTB (1st choice) and then spider (second choice) I won't buy the GTS however.

I think there is a manual rosso cordobra 360 - should be the first to go under 300K limit - I loved changing the gears but went for F1 in the end to make it more saleable.

    Fong,
Tested the Lipstick. Resolution was very good. BUT, can only mount inside as its not waterproof.

Problem was when we tested it inside...image was hazy coz it had to go thru 2 glass panels i.e. the rear and the engine cover. so no go for your model.

Found a water proof version with auto iris. Will be testing it next week.

Let me know how the waterproof one turns out..

When my p in p arrives with all my other toys, we can try and hook it up, play front and rear on the main screen, then connect av out to a solid state recorder...there are a few pretty tough ones on the market for ard $300 usd now.

I'll send you the link later,
    when we going driving...

    :)
