My buddy and I are planning to go to the last race of Michael Schumacher's career and wanted to know if anyone has any suggession as to where to stay, how to get around and what to expect in Brazil since it will be our first time and neither one of us speak Portuguese...

All useful tips and suggessions will be appreciated.

my suggestion would be to go with Grand Prix tours in Newport Beach , CA.
they book & arrange the whole weekend for you. makes it a really enjoyable
weekend. we`re thinking about it too . do you know how long the flight is from LAX ?

We're flying from SFO, leaving on Tuesday around noon making a connection through DFW and getting there on Wednesday around 9:00 AM and coming back the following Tuesday. We've never been there so we want to make the most out of the trip. But also try to get pit pass and see the drivers up close and maybe see Michael for a photo op (that would be historic). I am not sure how we're going to arrange for tickets yet, I am checking around for a complete package with pit passes.

You'll be lucky to get tickets! I have been trying for 2 days - eventually got some in a package tour (from South Africa), have to stay for a week, and go via Rio which is not the end of the world. Also v. limited in choice of seats - only place I could get was in Grandstand A at the beginning of the straight opposite the entrance to the pits. Should be okay but not sure if there is a big screen there.

Every other operator I spoke to was sold out Monday morning, even the big guys like Page and Moy in the UK.

$4500 for my wife and I, flights, accom (7 nights, 5 stars), 3 nights in Rio 4 nights in SP, transfers, race tickets, etc.

Good luck I hope you come right.

PS One of the things I'm going to do in Sao Paulo is visit Senna's grave. My second favourite GP driver of all time.

I am sure we can get tickets, based on my search there are still packages available for the race with pitlane passes for each day. We definitely want to do the pitlane this time around.

Yeah, I had to book with formulatours.com... Everthing seems to have gone though fine...

they all seem to be extremely marked up when compared with making all the arrangements yourself, but I didn't want to go through the hassles...

Maybe we should do an FChat meetup there?

We are booking ours through a travel agent...looks like we don't have a problem with air and/or hotel. VIP tickets including pitpasses are still available but pricey.

Edit: You can always buy tickets at the race track...we've done that before.

I booked the the race tickets thru the Ferrari Owners site, I just hope they don't cancel Me again, My flight was from points that I had put back into My account from the Cancelled Mugello Test, and I'm staying at The Staybridge, it's only 4 miles from the track, anyone up for adult beverages?
